Xircom Mini-PCI Combo Card Modem Software for Windows 95/98/NT4.0 May, 15, 2000 Version 1.73.5.4 ====================================================================== What This Packages Does ----------------------- This package provides the modem drivers for the IBM 10/100 EtherJet Mini-PCI Adapter with 56K Modem (MiniPCI Combo) for Windows 95/98/NT4.0 The Ethernet drivers are available in a separate package. This release supports the following systems: - ThinkPad A20m (with Mini PCI Combo) - ThinkPad A20p (with Mini PCI Combo) - ThinkPad T20x (with Mini PCI Combo) To determine if the Modem driver needs to be updated, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section below. To update the modem driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions" section below. Released Versions ----------------- Version 1.73.5.2 Initial release for ThinkPad A20m/A20p/T20. Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. With the power removed, Insert the modem if necessary. 2. Start Windows 95/98/NT4.0 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. In the Open field, type "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MODEM\SETUP.EXE" to install the modem driver. Click the OK button to start the installation process. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the modem installation. Uninstalling the modem driver ----------------------------- Note : If you do not remove the modem H/W, Windows will detect the modem on the next boot. 1. Start Windows 95/98 or NT. 2. Click Start , point to Settings , then click Control Panel . 3. Double-click the Modem icon. 4. Select Lucent Win Modem . 5. Click the Remove button. 6. When you are asked if you want to remove the modem, click the Yes button. 7. Click the Close button in the Modem Properties window. 8. Windows NT users will also need to do steps 9 through 12. 9. Double-click the Devices icon in the Control Panel . 10. Select the Lucent Modem Driver . 11. Click the Startup button. 12. Select Disabled and click the OK button. 13. Click the Close button in the Devices window. 14. Restart the system. Start Windows 95/98 or NT 2. Click Start , point to Find , then click Files or Folders . 3. Click the Name & Location tab. 4. In the Named: field, type each file name listed in the above table. 5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:) . 6. Click the Find Now button. Windows will now search your hard drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, then the Modem driver is not installed on your system. 7. In the Found part of the window, select the file name located in the appropriate operating system: Windows 95/98: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM, Windows NT: C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 8. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column to check the date/time of the each file.
