IBM 3Com 10/100 Ethernet August 17, 2000 Mini-PCI Adapter with 56k Modem for Windows95 Version 1.00 ========================================================================== What This Packages Does ----------------------- This package provides the Windows 95 Ethernet device driver for the 3Com IBM 10/100 Ethernet Mini-PCI Adapter with 56K Modem (Mini-PCI Combo card). The Modem drivers and Ethernet drivers for other operating systems are available in separate packages. This release supports the following systems: - ThinkPad A20m (with Mini PCI Combo) - ThinkPad A20p (with Mini PCI Combo) - ThinkPad T20 (with Mini PCI Combo) To determine if you have to update the Ethernet driver or not, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section below. To update the Ethernet driver, refer to the "Installation instructions" section below. When the system detects Ethernet or Modem, click "Cancel" 2. Run setup.exe in 'lansetup directory. 3. If a previous ethernet installation exists a "3Com 10/100 Mini PCI Ethernet Adaptor has a ROM" dialog box will pop-up. Check the "Device can be removed safely. Do not dislplay this message again" box and press the "Test" button on the dialog box. 4. Leave the "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" selection checked and press the "Finish" button. 5. Allow the system to reboot. If you need to add the Ethernet card, turn off the machine, add the card, and boot up the machine. 6. Press the "OK" button on the "Insert Disk" dialog screen. 7. In the "Copying Files" dialog box Enter "c:\windows\options\cabs" into the "Copy files from:" box and press the "OK" button. This is necessary only on the first installation. 8. Follow the Microsoft instructions for installing the LAN support files. Determining which version is installed: -------------------------------------- This driver package contains an NDIS4 driver for Windows 95. The NDIS4 driver used in this driver package is version NDIS4=1.10.17.003. To identify the driver version for: Windows 95 1. Go to "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel" 2. Go to "System" 3. Select the "Device Manager" tab. 4. Click on the "+" next to "Network Adapters". 5. Double Click on "3Com 10/100 Mini PCI Ethernet Adapter". 6. Select the "Driver" tab. 7. Select the "Driver File Details" button. 8. The File Version will be on the screen below the Driver Files box. 9. If the File version number is less than the version in this file, then an update is needed.
