IBM ThinkPad July 26, 2002 CE-Utility Version 1.06 ====================================================================== What This Diskette Does ----------------------- This CE Utility Diskette enables you to set some function of the following ThinkPad computers: - ThinkPad R32 Released Version ---------------- Version 1.02 Initial release Version 1.06 A problem fix Summary of Change ----------------- Key: Diskette Version (for example, 1.00 means Version 1.00) (New) New Function or Enhancement (Fix) Correction to existing function <1.02> - (New) Support for ThinkPad R32. <1.03> - (Fix) Cannot update the VPD by using CE Utility. NOTE: If you want to use "VPD Utility" or "RFID Error Correction", please see Installation Instructions section for detail. Installation Instructions ------------------------- Power on the computer with this diskette in the diskette drive. After the systems starts up, the following message should appear: 1. UUID Data Utility 2. VPD Utility 3. 1394 Utility 4. Themal Senser Utility 5. Panel Utility 6. First_Use_Date Utility 7. RFID Error Correction 8. License Message 9. Quit If you want to use "VPD Utility" or "RFID Error Correction", please follow below procedure 1 or 2. 1. Change setting in BIOS Setup Utility 1-1. Insert CE Utility diskette in the floppy driver. 1-2. Turn on the computer. 1-3. While the "Press F1 for IBM BIOS Setup Utility" message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press "F1" key. The IBM BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password. 1-4. Select "Startup" -> "Boot Mode". Change the setting to "Diagnostic". 1-5. Press "F10" key then choose "Yes" and press "Enter" key to save the change and exit. 1-6. After the systems starts up, the menu message appears and choose the menu item you want to use. 2. Pressing ESC key 2-1. Insert CE Utility diskette in the floppy driver. 2-1. Turn on the computer. 2-2. When the IBM logo is displayed on the screen, press the "ESC" key few times until BIOS copyright and diagnostic screen appears. 2-3. After the systems starts up, the menu message appears and choose the menu item you want to use. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Implementation Limitation: - Diskette can not be write protected. NOTE: How to Input data for VPD Utility 1. System Unit Serial Number(14 bytes) e.g. If the barcode label at the bottom of notebook shows "TYPE 2659-CB0 S/N AA-G985Z", just enter as below; 2659CB0AAG985Z You don't need to enter "TYPE", "S/N", dashes, or spaces 2.
