What This Package Does
-----------------------

This Package provides the audio driver for OS/2 Warp4 users.
The Audio Features Package enables the audio function of the following
ThinkPad computers:

     - ThinkPad T30, T40, T41, T42

To install the audio driver, refer to the "Installation instructions"
section.

Installation instructions
-------------------------

 1. Start OS/2 and close all open applications.

 2. Download or move the audio file to a C:\DRIVERS directory. The
    directory may need to be created.

 3. Start the Multimedia Application Install program:
    On the OS/2 desktop couble click the OS/2 System folder, click the
    System Setup folder, click Install/Remove, then click Multimedia
    installation program, or
    Alternatively, you can execute MINSTALL from an OS/2 command prompt
    or browse the installation diskette with the OS/2 drivers utility
    and double-click the ICON for install.cmd.

 4. Once you are in the multimedia installation program, select the
    drive and subdirectory you copied the driver to. Default path is
    C:\DRIVERS\OS2\AUDIO
    The installation program will show:
    SoundMax Integrated Digital Wave Audio (Pre-selected)

 5. Click the install button to proceed with the installation.  Read
    and follow the instructions provided by the installation program.

 6. After you complete the installation, restart the system.

NOTE: To remove audio driver, select zero devices when prompted for
the number of devices to install.  Selectable choices are 0 and 1.


Determining which version is installed
--------------------------------------

Check the following files size in Bytes.
C:\MMOS2\ICHCSND.SYS           
As for V3.1.8       44,754 byte

Or
 1. Click the OS/2 System icon on the Desktop. 
 2. Click the System Setup icon. 
 3. Click the Hardware Manager icon.
 4. Double-click SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio. 
 5. Confirm v3.1.8 in the description for ICHCSND.SYS on the Device tab
