Follow the instruction displayed to install those utilities. Windows 2000 1. Make a temporary directory and unzip the file into there. 2. Boot the system. 3. When the system asks the location of the driver for "PCI Device", click the "Cancel" button. 4. Run 'HXFSetup.EXE' in the root directory of the package extracted. 5. 'Device driver Installation wizard' will open. Click 'OK' button. 6. Modem device driver will be installed. 6-1 When DS warning pop-up opens, click 'Yes' button. 6-2 When DS warning pop-up opens again, click 'Yes' button. 7. NetWating setup program starts. 7-1 On the Welcome window, just click 'Next' button. 7-2 On the 'Licence Agreement' window, just click 'Yes' button. 7-3 On the 'Choose Destination Location' window, just click 'Next' button. 7-4 On the 'Select Program Folder' window, just click 'Next' button. 7-5 When finished installing NetWaiting, click 'Finish' button. 8. Digital Line Detect setup program starts. 8-1 On the Welcome window, just click 'Next' button. 8-2 On the 'Licence Agreement' window, just click 'Yes' button. 8-3 On the 'Choose Destination Location' window, just click 'Next' button. 8-4 On the 'Select Program Folder' window, just click 'Next' button. 8-5 When finished installing NetWaiting, click 'Finish' button. 9. On Device driver installation wizard window, check the insatllation result is 'SUCCESS', and click 'OK' button to complete installation. 10. Restart the system if needed. Windows XP 1. Are you sure you want to install this device software?', click 'Install' button to install it. 6. NetWating setup program starts. 6-1 If a pop-up window opens that askes you to select language, select language you want and click OK button. 6-2 On the Welcome window, just click 'Next' button. 6-3 On the 'Licence Agreement' window, just click 'Yes' button. 6-4 On the 'Select Program Folder' window, just click 'Next' button. 6-5 When finished installing NetWaiting, click 'Finish' button. 7. Digital Line Detect setup program starts. 7-1 On the Welcome window, just click 'Next' button. 7-2 On the 'Licence Agreement' window, just click 'Yes' button. 7-3 On the 'Select Program Folder' window, just click 'Next' button. 7-4 When finished installing NetWaiting, click 'Finish' button. 8. On Device driver installation wizard window, check the insatllation result is 'SUCCESS', and click 'OK' button to complete installation. 9. Restart the system if needed. * During installation, sometimes following dialogs appear because of Windows Security of Vista. Please choose Install and then proceed Installation. - Message 1 - Windows Security - Would you like to install this device software? You should only install drivers software from publishers you trust. - Message 2 - Windows Security - Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software ** During installation, sometimes following dialogs appear because of User Account Control of Vista. Please click Continue or Allow and then proceed installation. - Message 1 - A program needs your permission to continue If you started this program, continue. - Message 2 - An unidentified program wants access to your computer Don't run the program unless you know where it's from or you've used it before. Unattended installation: This is for system administrators use only. On Windows XP/2000 1. Start Windows and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start. 4. Click Run. 5 Type "HSFSETUP.EXE -s" with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 3, and click OK. The default location is C:\Drivers\WIN\HDAMODEM On Windows XP 1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start button, then click All Programs. 4. Click Accessories, then click Command Prompt. 5 Type "SETUP.EXE -s" with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 3, and click OK. The default location is C:\Drivers\WIN\HDAMODEM Uninstalling the driver: ** Note: While uninstalling the modem driver, NetWaiting (Modem on Hold Application) and Digital Line Detect (an applet for the over-current protection) will be also installed at the same time. Follow the instruction displayed to uninstall those utilities. Windows 2000 1. Start Windows. 2. Click on 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control panel'. 3. Double click 'Add/Remove Programs. 4. Select 'ThinkPad Modem', then click 'Change/Remove'. 5. Device driver Uninstallation wizard will open. Click 'OK' button. 6. Modem device driver will be uninstalled. 7. NetWating uninstallation program starts. 7-1 On the Welcome window, select 'Remove' and click 'Next' button. 7-2 On the 'Confirm Uninstall' pop-up, click 'OK' button. 7-3 NetWating will be uninstlled. 8. Digital Line Detect uninstallation program starts. 7-1 On the Welcome window, select 'Remove' and click 'Next' button. 7-2 On the 'Confirm Uninstall' pop-up, click 'OK' button. 7-3 NetWating will be uninstlled. 9. On Device driver uninstallation wizard window, check the uninsatllation result is 'SUCCESS' and click 'OK' button to finish uninstallation. 10. Restart the system if needed. Windows XP 1. Click on 'Start' -> 'Control panel'. 3. Click 'Programs'. 4. Click 'Programs and Features / Uninstall a program'. 5. Select 'ThinkPad Modem' and click 'Uninstall/Change'. 6. Modem device driver will be uninstalled. 7. NetWating uninstallation program starts. 7-1 On the 'Confirm Uninstall' pop-up, click 'OK' button. 7-2 NetWating will be uninstlled. 8. Digital Line Detect uninstallation program starts. 7-1 On the Welcome window, select 'Remove' and click 'Next' button. 7-2 On the 'Confirm Uninstall' pop-up, click 'OK' button. 7-3 NetWating will be uninstlled. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- 1. Start Windows Vista. 2. Click Start and then click Control Panel. 3. Click Device Manager. 4. Click Continue for Windows needs your permission to continue 5. Expand Modems section. 6. Select ThinkPad Modem 7. Right-click ThinkPad Modem, and select Properties. 8. Click the Driver tab. 9.
