What This Package Does ----------------------- This package provides the display driver for OS/2 users. This package enables or updates the display function of the following ThinkPad computers: - ThinkPad T43(Machine Type: 26xx)(*1) Note: *1: Machine Type 18xx of ThinkPad T43 family are not supported. Please get the additional package for them, and install it, as well. To determine if you should update the display driver, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. To update the display driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions" section. Released Version ---------------- Version 445(Build Number) Initial release. Support for ThinkPad T43(*1) *1: This package supports model-26xx(ATI video chip) only for ThinkPad T43. Installation instructions -------------------------- 1. Start OS/2 and close all open applications. 2. Download or move the video file to the C:\DRIVERS directory. The directory may need to be created. 3. Open an OS/2 full-screen or OS/2 window session and change to the C:\DRIVERS directory. 4. Run the file to extract all the drivers to C:\DRIVERS\OS2\VIDEO. 5. Before running the SETUP.CMD file, use SET LANG= to set the correct language. The language may already be correctly set in the CONFIG.SYS. Example) SET LANG=en_US (for English = default) SET LANG=ja_JP (for Japan) 6. Change the installation directory by typing CD OS2\VIDEO 7. At the OS/2 command prompt, type the following command and then press the Enter key: SETUP SDD [] [/u] Where [] is optional and is the drive where OS/2 is installed. [/u] is optional and indicates an unattended install such as for CID installations. A CID response file is not required. 8. When prompted to do so, shutdown, and then restart your computer. 9. After the computer reboots, the desktop should be in the 640x480x256 display mode. Do the following to correctly configure for your current display and choose an appropriate resolution and refresh rate: How to change the resolution and color depth -------------------------------------------- 1. Open the System object icon. 2. When the Settings notebook appears, select the Screen tab. 3. Go to Screen Page 2, and select your monitor. The current version requires you to close the System object and reopen it in order to have your monitor selection affect the list of resolutions and refresh rates available. 4. On Screen Page 1, select a resolution, color depth, and refresh rate. Depending on your adapter and display, refresh rates may not be selectable. 5. Close the Settings notebook. 6. Shutdown and restart your computer. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- 1. Open the System object. 2. When the Settings notebook appears, select the Screen tab. 3. On Screen Page 1, please check Driver Date and Build No. in Display Info.
