For Windows 98/98 SE/Me/2000/XP, please use the following package: Wireless LAN Software for Cisco Wireless LAN MiniPCI Card for Windows 98/98 SE/Me/2000/XP for ThinkPad The Wireless LAN driver enables or updates the Wireless LAN function of the following ThinkPad computers with the following adapters - Cisco Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Card. This release supports the following systems: - ThinkPad T30/T40/T41/T42 - ThinkPad X30/X31 - ThinkPad R32 Note: This driver will turn the Radio on automatically after restarting or resuming from suspend the system. Turn the radio off again using the following procedure: 1. Start -> Programs -> Cisco Systems -> Aironet Client Utility (ACU) 2. Commands -> Turn Radio Off To determine if you should update the Wireless LAN driver, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. To update the Wireless LAN driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions" section. RELEASED VERSIONS ----------------- Version 3.4.11 Initial release. Version 3.5.13 Fixed a problem. Installation instructions ------------------------- Note: ThinkPad Software Installer is not supported by this package. Windows NT 4.0 1. Start Windows NT 4.0. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel. 4. Double-click Network. 5. If this is the first time to configure the Network, it will display Network Configuration dialog box, then proceed to the next step. If not, go to step 20. First Network Configuration 6. Click Yes. 7. Select Wired to the network. 8. Click Next. 9. Click Select from list. 10. Click Have Disk. 11. Type the path to the directory that contains the .inf file in Insert Disk dialog box. (\PCC-MPI\NT4.0) 12. Click OK. 13. Select Cisco Systems PCI Wireless LAN Adapter. 14. Follow the instructions that follows and reboot the system. 15. Right click Network Neighborhood icon. 16. Click Properties. 17. Click Adapters tab of Network window 18. Select Cisco Systems PCI Wireless LAN Adapter and click Properties. 19. Close Network Window and restart the system. Add Ethernet to Network Configuration 20. Click Adapters tab. 21. Click Add. 22. Click Have Disk. 23. Type the path to the directory that contains the .inf file in Insert Disk dialog box. 24. Click OK. 25. Select Cisco Systems PCI Wireless LAN Adapter. 26. Click OK. 27. Click Close. 28. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen. 29. Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer. Aironet Client Utility 1. Start Windows. 2. Click Start and then click Run. 3 In the Run dialog window, specify \ACU\SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK. 4. Follow the instructions on the screen. 5. Restart the system. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- To check the version of the firmware/device driver that is installed on your system: 1. Start Aironet Client Utility 2. Click Status icon. 3. Check Firmware Version/NDIS Driver Version. Determining the Utility Version To check the version of the Utility Software that is installed on your system: 1. Open Aironet Client Utility 2. Click Help, then click About Aironet Client Utility. Unattended installation ----------------------- To install the Aironet Client Utility without any interruption, please do following steps. This is for system administrators' use only. 1. Start Windows NT 4.0, logon with administrative privileges. 2. Copy the I386 Folder from the Windows NT 4.0 CD-ROM to the hard drive. 3. Run WINNT /U:UNATTEND /S: Tips for LEAP Authentication ---------------------------- 1. To utilize LEAP authentication, it is required to install Cisco Aironet Client Utility(ACU) with LEAP authentication feature selected. Please run \utility\SETUP.EXE to install ACU and choose the "LEAP" option at Select Options menu of the installer. 2. If IBM Client Security Software (CSS) is installed, to enable manage pass phrase using User Verification Manager for log-on authentication, it is required to re-install ACU after IBM Client Security Software is installed.
