Enhanced Security is always enabled. - (Fix) There is noise at audio mute. <1.13 - 1FETA3WW) - (New) Support for Windows NT 4.0. - (Fix) The system may hang intermittently during network download installation. - (Fix) (PC DOS) Mute the sound by pressing the mute button, but after reboot the mute is disabled. - (Fix) The system may hang intermittently during resuming from lid close standby. - (Fix) (PC DOS) MEM command only returns 16 MB available on PC DOS. - (Fix) The system may hang intermittently during resume from hibernation. <1.16 - 1FETA6WW> - (Fix) 5.25 inch floppy disk drive icon is displayed in "My Computer". - (Fix) (Windows 98SE) After Install the video driver then restart the system, the screen becomes blank with the backlight on. <1.17 - 1FETA7WW> - (Fix) (Windows XP) Sometimes the system may hang up at booting with blue screen. <1.18 - 1FETA8WW> - (Fix) (Windows 2000) Once power on password is set, BIOS setup utility may not accept any key. - (Fix) (Windows XP) Sometimes bluescreen or serious error may appear at booting. <1.19 - 1FETA9WW> - (Fix) Slow retrieval of serial number through USB barcode scanner. NOTE: This problem is concerning a manufacturing issue in a factory. There is no impact for the customer environment. If you already installed Version 1.18, you do not need to install Version 1.19. <1.27 - 1FETB7WW> - (Fix) Enhanced the Intel(R) SpeedStep(TM) technology item in IBM BIOS Setup Utility. - (Fix) (Windows NT) The system must be restarted to take effect of change when unselecting "will not suspend even if LCD is close" in ThinkPad configurations utility. <1.31 - 1FETC1WW> - (Fix) When the system is shut down just after copying file using IBM Microdrive, the system shows error message and it takes longer time to shut down the system. - (Fix) Garbage may appear during resuming from hibernation. - (Fix) (Windows NT) The System hangs after resuming from timer standby, if the system enters standby mode by timer after LCD off timer is executed. - (New) Celeron 1.33GHz CPU (New Stepping level) support. - (Fix) (Windows NT) Garbage displayed on either LCD or monitor while toggling the display. - (Fix) The system with IBM Security Chip may hang, if IBM Security Chip is disabled, CSS is installed and supervisor password is enabled. - (Fix) (Windows 98SE Japanese) After installing Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility, the system may hang with blue screen. - (Fix) If power on password or supervisor password is set, password prompt also appears at warm boot. <1.34 - 1FETC4WW> - (Fix) The system hangs up at POST after enabling the serial port to (2F8, IRQ3) - (Fix) BIOS can not keep setting of disabling network devices. - (Fix) Network boot device may be enabled even if it is disabled at Boot menu in BIOS setup. - (Fix) If HDD password is set, password prompt also appears at warm boot. - (Fix) MS intelli USB Optical mouse does not work from cold boot when attached to the port replicator. <3.01 - 1FETE1WW> - (New) New CPU Stepping level B1 support. - (Fix) (Windows XP) The system may freeze at disabling and enabling the parallel port through ThinkPad Configuration utility after changing the parallel port setting to 378/IRQ7 and EPP. <3.01a- 1FETE1WW> - (Fix) After BIOS update, the system may not work. NOTE: This release modifies the program which installs the BIOS. There is no change to the BIOS itself. If you have already updated the system to V3.01(1FETE1WW), you do not need to apply this release. <3.02 - 1FETE2WW> - (Fix) (Windows 98/Me) The display becomes black when resuming from hibernation. - (Fix) (Windows NT) A display device may not be changed from Intel Graphic properties. - (Fix) (Windows 2000) If battery pack is not in the system, unexpected Reboot or crash may occur during restoring the preload. <3.02a- 1FETE2WW> - (Fix) After BIOS update, the system may not work. NOTE: This release modifies the program which installs the BIOS. There is no change to the BIOS itself. If you have already updated the system to V3.02(1FETE2WW), you do not need to apply this release. <3.03 - 1FETE3WW> - (Fix) Some garbage is displayed during hibernation resume. - (Fix) Wrong CPU type is shown in UMS basic system table. <3.03a- 1FETE3WW> - (Fix) After BIOS update, the system may not work. NOTE: This release modifies the program which installs the BIOS. There is no change to the BIOS itself. If you have already updated the system to V3.03(1FETE3WW), you do not need to apply this release. <3.04 - 1FETE4WW> - (Fix) PC-Doctor for DOS returns wrong battery type. - (Fix) Refresh function of battery does not work. - (Fix) Wrong CPU speed appeared in BIOS setup menu. - (Fix) Battery MaxiMiser may prevent suspend operation. - (Fix) High pitch noise can be heard when running Access ThinkPad or Internet Explorer. <3.05 - 1FETE5WW> - (Fix) Can not boot from USB FDD attached to an external USB hub. <3.06 - 1FETE6WW> - (Fix) Wrong cache size information shown at POST. <3.08 - 1FETE8WW> - (Fix) Cannot boot with Windows 2000 setup diskette by using USB FDD drive. <3.09 - 1FETE9WW> - (Fix) Stop Error occurs when Windows 2000 boot up, after installing Pointsec under the NTFS environment. <3.10 - 1FETF0WW)> - Corrects and issue with applications that use the Int 13 API call not getting the correct hard disk drive (HDD) information. This can occur if the Startup Boot device order in the IBM BIOS Setup Utility is changed from the first hard disk drive booting first to the second HDD booting first. <3.11 - 1FETF1WW)> - Display swtich Hot key (Fn+F7) may not work with WindowsXP SP2. Installation Instructions ------------------------- NOTES: - You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the system program. - If your computer is attached to any kind of port replicator, turn off the computer and detach it before proceeding. 1. Print these instructions or display on another computer. 2. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer. 3. Insert the System Program Service Diskette into the diskette drive and turn on the computer. 4. Select "Read this first..." from the menu and carefully read the information that appears. 5. Press the Esc key to return to the menu. 6. Select "Update system program" and follow the instruction on the screen. WARNING: Do not turn off or suspend the computer until the update has been completed. If you turn off or suspend the computer while the update is still in progress, the system board may have to be replaced. After the update has been completed, do the following to make the changes effective. 7. Make sure the System Program Service Diskette is removed from the diskette drive. 8. While the Press F1 for IBM BIOS Setup Utility message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key. The IBM BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password. 9. Verify the BIOS version and date. BIOS Information ---------------- Each version of the System Program Service Diskette contains the following system program (BIOS). The BIOS Version and the date as well as the Embedded controller version number can be viewed by running ThinkPad Configurator from your operating system and selecting the System Information button or by invoking IBM BIOS Setup Utility. 1. Make sure there is no diskette in the diskette drive, then turn off the computer. 2. Turn on the computer. 3. While the "Press F1 for IBM BIOS Setup Utility" message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press F1 key. The IBM BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password. 4. The BIOS version and date are displayed on the first screen of the IBM BIOS Setup Utility.
