The Remote Device Administrator Server is a set of Active Server Pages that displays and updates device information. The Update Designer is a user interface that creates bud files that contain XML directive which are the instructions for remote updates. ** Remote Management is NOT supported for modem connected clients. ** Remote Device Administrator Server prerequisites Remote device administrator can be installed on either Windows NT 4.0 Server or Windows 2000 Server. Please refer to the manual before beginning the RDA installation. Getting Started with RDA After installing RDA on your server, you can launch the RDA server or Update Designer from the Start Programs menu. To view devices that have announced themselves to the server, you can search with blank parameters and view all devices. Device records only include the information which the client includes in the announce to the server. To see all available client information, press the Refresh button at the bottom of the view devices screen for the device. Refer to Starting the Remote Device Administrator Server in the RDA User's Manual or Update Tab in Configuring your Thin Client in the N2200w Reference Guide. Update Designer installation Update Designer is typically installed as part of the RDA installation, but can be installed separately using the RDA setup program and only selecting the Update Designer to be installed. The procedure for installing separately is documented in the RDA User's Manual under Installing Update Designer Only.
