This file is for general information concerning the ver 1.1 installation drivers for the IBM ISDN International PC Card Modem with GSM (PN 02K4282). The two files that you will need to download for this are IBMD1R9S.EXE IBMD3R4.EXE CHANGES FROM VER 1.0 to 1.1 Dial-up Networking installation files not included with modem drivers Updated drivers for better compatibility with various cardbus controllers Better, streamlined installation process. Modem no longer automatically installed on COM 5 Enhanced performance of Analog over ISDN CREATING YOUR INSTALLATION DISKETTES These files are self-extracting files that you will need to download to a temporary directory on your hard drive (ex C:\ISDNTEMP). The compressed files are small enough that you can copy them to diskettes if you need to transfer them to a different system. Once you have copied them to the hard drive of the machine they will be installed on, you will need to execute the files either through a command prompt (C:\ibmdxxxx) or by using Windows Start-->Run-->C:\isdntemp\ibmdxxxx. The files will self-extract into the installation files for the modem. Once the files have been extracted, you can either reference the directory you have them in or you can copy the following files to separate diskettes: Install Disk 1: ACNTWIZ.DLL MDMS56KW.INF MFISMDM.INF NETISDNS.INF OEMSETUP.INF SUBSPPNP.SYS Install Disk 2: ATCMDREF.HL_ CLIPPCOM.ICO I56KICCM.MDM IBM56ISD.MDM ISDNDIAG.EX_ ISDNDIAG.ICO MODIO.DLL MODM.CFG MODM.ICO MODM32.EX_ MODM32.HL_ MSVCRT.DL_ OLEAUT32.DL_ SETUP.BMP SETUP.EXE SETUP32.INI STRUCT1.MP_ STRUCT2.MP_ STRUCT3.MP_ STRUCT4.MP_ STRUCT5.MP_ STRUCT6.MP_ STRUCT7.MP_ TELEADPT.HL_ The following installation instructions will be directed with the assumption that you have copied the files above to diskettes. If you do not want to do this, wherever the instructions refer to inserting a diskette, point the system to the directory you extracted the files in (i.e. C:\ISDNTEMP). (Note: If you have previously installed the modem using the ver 1.0 installation drivers (original disks that shipped with the modem or downloads ISDGSM16.EXE, ISDGSM23.EXE, & ISDGSM33.EXE), you will need to uninstall those drivers and utility programs before you install these new drivers and new utility programs. This can be done with the UNIN.EXE uninstall program you can download. Please see UNIN.TXT for information on using that file) INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ***Windows NT*** Before installing the modem, you should check and make sure that you have available resources. You can now go to the section Installing the ISDN Diskette. INSTALLING THE ISDN DISKETTE Install Disk 2 for your IBM ISDN International PC Card Modem with GSM contains two Windows Help files, the Country Configuration Software and ISDN Diagnostics. The easy-to-use Country Configuration software allows you to configure your modem to the telephone service for the country you are calling from. The IBM modem has been developed for use around the world. See the Country Approval flyer, supplied with your modem publications for a list of certified countries at the time of publication. While we know that it does perform worldwide, the actual approval and certification process for each country is a detailed and lengthy process and varies country to country. To keep you informed of the ongoing approvals, certification updates will be provided at our World Wide Web Site: Http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/options/modems/countries.html The Windows help files contain reference information that will be helpful to users who do not want to carry their manual with them while traveling. One file contains the contents of the User's Guide and the other help file is a quick reference guide to TeleAdapt's product line of international telephone line adapters. To install disk 2 onto your hard drive, follow the steps below. Please note that 4 MB of free hard drive space must be available for these files. Insert Install Disk 2 into your disk drive. Run the file Setup.exe on the diskette. You will be asked where you wish to install the necessary software. By default, a directory called IBMGSM is created on your C:\ drive, but you may specify an alternate location. The system will notify you when the installation is complete. Common modem functions (i.e. dialing, file transfer, faxing) are performed by using communication software in conjunction with the modem. The communication software included with your modem provides a user friendly interface for all common modem functions and should be sufficient for all your communication needs. The modem may also perform basic communication functions (such as dialing) via AT commands. A list and description of all the AT commands appears in Part 5 of your user manual. Since the communication software is designed to shield the user from the difficult and cumbersome AT commands, we strongly suggest that all modem operations be performed via the software.
