Instructions for applying the ComCentral Software Upgrade This readme contains the latest in software updates for the ComCentral and ComCentral 33.6 products. There is one self extracting executable file, CCUPDATE.EXE, that contains both an update to the ComCentral firmware and an update to the software utilities that run on your PC. NOTE: that this fix does not apply for FaxCentral. Currently there are no software fixes for FaxCentral. I. Read these instructions completely before beginning and print a copy for reference. II. Save CCUPDATE.EXE to the directory where you originally installed the ComCentral software. Note: the default is C:\CCENTRAL. III. Shutdown all other applications before installing any software. IV. Run the CCUPDATE file with the -d parameter: -For Windows 95: select START, RUN, type C:\CCENTRAL\CCUPDATE -D (note: if you installed ComCentral under another directory, substitute that directory for C:\CCENTRAL), click on OK. -For Windows 3.1x, from the program manager: select FILE, RUN, type C:\CCENTRAL\CCUPDATE -D (note: if you installed ComCentral under another directory, substitute that directory for C:\CCENTRAL), click on OK. V. This will create a temporary directory, CCTEMP, under the CCENTRAL directory which will contain three files (GLOAD.EXE, DAM.ROM, SETUPEX.EXE). A. The first part of the upgrade is to update your ComCentral firmware: 1. NOTE: the firmware update program does not work from within Windows. You need to be in an MS-DOS prompt or you must boot DOS in order to upgrade your firmware. 2. Open a DOS prompt: -For Windows 95: select START, PROGRAMS, MS-DOS Prompt -For Windows 3.1x: open the MAIN program group, double click on MS-DOS Prompt). 3. Change the current directory to where GLOAD.EXE resides (if you have not changed defaults, should be: CD \CCENTRAL\CCTEMP). 4. Ensure that your ComCentral unit is connected to your PC and powered on. 5. Execute the command: GLOAD 6. You should see various messages indicating the flash is being updated. The last message line should say "ok" and then "resetting ComCentral." 7. If you attempt this in an MS-DOS Prompt and have trouble, try running the GLOAD command in a clean DOS environment (for Windows 95, select "BOOT in DOS" from shutdown menu, for Windows 3.1, simply exit windows). B. The second part to the upgrade is to update your ComCentral Software (runs on your PC): 1. NOTE: if you have saved any custom greetings on your PC (including modifying the eight greetings provided) , you must backup the voice files before you perform the next step: 1. Custom greetings are stored in a VOICE subdirectory off the main installation directory (default is C:\CCENTRAL\VOICE). This entire directory needs to be backed up. 2. Open a DOS PROMPT. 3. Change directory to where ComCentral is installed (default is CD C:\CCENTRAL). Then change directory to the VOICE subdirectory ( CD VOICE). 4. Make a temporary directory (i.e. MD TEMP). 5. Copy all files to the temporary directory (i.e. COPY *.* TEMP). 6. After installation, you will restore these files. 2. Uninstall your current software (click on the Uninstall icon). If you don't do this step, you may end up with two sets of ComCentral icons. 3. Run the SETUPEX file, located in C:\CCENTRAL\CCTEMP (unless you've changed the default). 4. Follow the on-screen instructions. 5. When installation is complete, you must reset your ComCentral: 1. Start the ComCentral Setup program 2. Select Setup from the menu bar 3. Select Erase ComCentral 4. Follow the on-screen instructions 6. When the reset is complete, if you backed up Custom greetings you need to retore these: 1. Open a DOS PROMPT. 2. Change directory to the location where you backed up the files (i.e. CD C:\CCENTRAL\VOICE\TEMP). 3. Copy all files from the TEMP directory to the VOICE directory (i.e. COPY *.* C:\CCENTRAL\VOICE).
