* 2. System Requirements *
******************************************************************************
This section describes system requirements for the SiS630/540 Audio Driver
installationn and usage.
1. The hardware system must contain a SiS630/540 chipset with Audio function
enabled.
2. Mouse is optional.

* for Microsoft DOS *
******************************************************************************
If you want to have sound under real mode Dos environment, such as MSDOS 6.22
or Windows95/98->press F8->select Command Prompt only or Windows95/98->Shutdown->
Restart in MS-DOS Mode. then you need to do the following.
Install DOS Legacy driver by setup utility:
1. To install the driver please run "SETUP.EXE -lg"
Install DOS Legacy driver manually:
1. Copy all the files under this directory and Win95_98\gm10mb.sam to your hard disk
drive, for example C:\DOSAUD.
2. Please make sure HIMEM is already installed. Add this line in your config.sys
DEVICE = C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
For Windows, you don't have to do so because Windows loads HIMEM automatically.
3. Add 2 lines in AUTOEXEC.BAT file
C:\DOSAUD\SNDINIT.EXE/INIT
C:\DOSAUD\SNDTSR.EXE
Or you can run SNDINIT.EXE/INIT then SNDTSR.EXE directly under real mode DOS
command prompt whenever you want to install the driver.
SiS also provides a basic diagnostics under real DOS environment.
1. Run SNDINIT.EXE without any parameter then press OK to see some
configuration diaglogs.
2. Make sure Sound device is enabled and select proper Base Port, DMA
Channel and SB IRQ that are not being used by other devices.
3. Enable ADLIB if you want to have wavetable synthesis music for ADLIB
FM.

By manual Setup
0. If SiS audio driver has been installed into your system, you must remove
the previous driver and restart your computer. Then, installing the new driver.
1. Click on Start->Settings->Control Panel.
2. Double-click on the Multimedia icon, then select the Devices tab.
3. Click on the Add button, then select Unlisted or Updated Driver from the
list box. Click on OK.
4. You will now be prompted to insert or locate the vendor-provided driver
disk. Enter the path to this directory.
5. A dialog box titled Add Unlisted or Updated Driver will appear. Make sure
the sound card driver is selected, then click OK.
6. Once the drivers have been copied to your system, you will be prompted to
reboot. Go ahead and reboot at this time.
By Setup utility
run SETUP.EXE in this directory.

* for Microsoft Windows 95 & Windows 98 *

To install Windows 95/98 driver, please run SETUP.EXE in this directory.
1. Running SETUP.EXE Automatically installs WDM or VxD driver base on the O.S
version. WDM driver will be installed for Windows 98SE and VxD driver will be
installed for Windows 98OEM (first edition, 4.10.1998) and Windows 95.
2. To force installing VxD driver for Windows 98SE, please run
"SETUP.EXE -vxd" using Windows Start->Run
3. To update the driver, just run SETUP.EXE directly. SETUP will overwrite the
old driver with the current one.

* for Microsoft Windows 2000 *
******************************************************************************
By manual setup
1. Click on Start->Settings->Control Panel.
2. Double-click on the System icon, then select the Hardware tab.
3. Click on the "Hardware Wiazrd" button, then "Add/Remove Hardware Wizard"
will be popped up.
4. Click on Next button, then select "Add/Troubleshoot a device" from the
list box.
5. Click on Next button, then "Found Now Hardware Wizard" will be popped up.
6. Click on Next button, then select "Search for a suitable driver for my
device" from the list box.
7. Click on Next button, then specify the driver location from the list box.
If you specify the location on a floppy disk or CD-ROM driver, insert the
floppy disk or CD before clicking Next button.
8. Click on Next button, then assign correctly the path of the driver.
Click OK butten.
9. If "Digital Signature Not Found" wizard is popped up, ignore it and click
on YES button to continue the installation.
10. Click on Finish butten after the installation is complete.
11. Once the installation is complete, the "System Settings Change" message will
be pop up. Click on YES button to reboot the computer.
By Setup Utility
run SETUP.EXE in this directory. Or run setup.exe -s for silent install.
Note:
Please do not use SILENT INSTALL after remove audio device. If you remove audio device,
then please restart computer first, then doing silent install.

* 7. SiS630/540 AudioRack Installation *
******************************************************************************
1. run SETUP.EXE with parameter -ar (setup -ar), then AudioRack will also be
installed automatically with driver.
