This release of the Wildcat Pro Display Driver will only install and run on systems running Windows 2000. This driver supports standard and wide format, 24 inch and 28 inch, monitors. -------------------------- End of Version Information -------------------------- Installation Help ================= This driver will not run on any machine which does not have PCI backplane hardware. The Wildcat Pro Display driver will work with both the AGP and AGP Pro versions of the Wildcat Display adapter. See MANIFEST.TXT for a list of delivered files. Please refer to the installation documentation provided with the media supplied with your system. If you are trying to load an updated driver from the 3Dlabs web site, please do the following: 1. Save the self-extracting .zip file to a temporary directory on the system hard drive. 2. Double-click the self-extracting zip file to unzip the driver files. These driver files are compressed and will be expanded during the installation process. NOTE: When re-installing Windows2000 with a 4210 card installed in the system, the "Found New Hardware" dialog/wizard will not come up after the final boot into Windows 2000. You must install the driver. Simply run the setup.exe program located with the Wildcat driver software, then reboot the system. The setup.exe program will install the driver for you. WINDOWS 2000 PLUG AND PLAY -------------------------- For driver installation and removal, refer to the Hardware section of the Windows 2000 online help. This Help is generally available by clicking on "Start" at the bottom left of the screen, and selecting the help entry from the menu. NOTE: During the installation, a dialog box will appear indicating that another disk is needed. This will correspond to the installation disks. Verify that the path in the entry line at the bottom of the dialog box points to the location for the next disk and select the option that will allow you to continue installation. If you have downloaded an updated driver from the 3Dlabs web site, enter the path corresponding to the Disk1, Disk2,... folders created by the self-extracting zip file. To update the Wildcat driver ============================ 1. Log on to Windows 2000 using an account that has administrative privileges. NOTE: If you uninstalled the card or driver, or you are installing the driver for the first time, the Found New Hardware Wizard will appear. Click Next on the Found New Hardware Wizard then follow the procedures below beginning with step 6. 2. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/ Control Panel/System. 3. Under System, click the Hardware tab. 4. Click on Device Manager. Under Display Adapters, double click 3Dlabs Wildcat Pro 4110. 5. On the Drivers tab, click Update Driver. The Upgrade Device Driver Wizard displays. 6. Under Install Hardware Device Drivers, click "Display a list of the known drivers" then click Next. 7. Click Have Disk and insert Disk 1 of the driver media in the appropriate drive. 8. Under Locate Driver Files, make sure the appropriate search location is selected; then, click Next. The Wizard locates the driver installation files. 9. Under Driver Files Search Results, click Next to start the installation. 10. Insert Disk 2 when prompted, then click OK to continue with the installation. 11. Once the driver successfully installs, click Finish. 12. When told that the workstation must be restarted for the new settings to take effect, remove the diskette from the workstation's floppy disk drive and click Yes to restart the workstation. Unattended Installation Help ============================ To install the Wildcat Display driver as part of an unattended installation of Windows 2000, execute the following steps. 1. Copy all driver files to a single directory in the $oem$\$1\ path of the distribution directory (ex. d:\win2kdst\$oem$\$1\wcgpro). 2. Add the following sections to the unattend.txt file: [Unattended] OemPreinstall = yes OemPnPDriversPath = "\wcgpro" [Display] BitsPerPel = 32 XResolution = 1024 YResolution = 768 VRefresh = 75 3. Execute the unattended installation. NOTE: To bypass the digital signing check for a non WHQL version of the driver, add the following entries to the unattend.txt file: [SetupParams] DriverSigningPolicy = Ignore Automated Installation Help =========================== NOTES: Make sure you have write permission on the target machine as the automated installation will create temporary directories on its hard drive. 1. Create an installation directory on your hard drive and then copy all installation files into that directory. You may either create a directory structure having a disk1, disk2, ... format or just dump all files into the same directory. 2. Copy the contents of each installation disk to its corresponding folder. 3. Modify the setup.ini file to meet your specifications. 4. Run setup.exe. Upgrading the VGA Controller for the Wildcat 4110 =================================================== To upgrade the VGA Controller: 1. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel/System. Click the Hardware tab on the System dialog box. Then, click Device Manager. 2. Under Display Adapters, double click Chips and Technologies 655554 Graphics Adapter 3. Under the Driver tab, click Update Driver. 4. The Upgrade Device Driver Wizard displays. Click Next, then select Display a list of known drivers, then click Next. 5. Select Show all hardware of this device class. Under Manufactures choose Intense3D, and under Model choose Wildcat VGA. Click Next. 6. An Update Driver Warning dialog box appears. Click Yes. The Update Device Driver reappears. Click Next on the Wizard. 7. A prompt will display stating a digital signature is not found and will ask if you want to continue with this installation. Click Yes. 8. Insert Disk 2 when prompted, then click OK to continue with the installation. 9. Once the driver successfully installs, click Finish to dismiss the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard. 10. When told that the workstation must be restarted for the new settings to take effect, remove the diskette from the workstation's floppy disk drive and click Yes to restart the workstation. To verify the Wildcat VGA controller is installed: 1. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel/System, and click the Hardware tab on the System dialog box. Then, click Device Manager. 2. Verify that Wildcat VGA is listed under Display Adapters. This indicates that the appropriate driver is installed. New Features ============ 05.01.02.01 - Added Escape support for MSForceEnable control. Fixes ===== 05.01.02.01 - Fixed a problem with some display list primitives not rendering. - Fixed access violations that occurred in OpenGL select mode. - Fixed a problem with display lists not drawing correctly when blending was enabled and source alpha was required. - Fixed a problem with overlay where the palette was being packed twice before being loaded into the lookup table. This fixed a a bug in Softimage where the subregion rectangle was not being draw with the expected color - Fixed hang in 3DStress caused by the rapid deletion of contexts. - Fixed 4110/4210 problem with more than two lights rendering backfacing primitives wrong under certain conditions. - Fixed a hang in Lotus 1-2-3 under Windows 2000 Japanese. - Fixed a bug such that glGetBoolean() was not returning all of the enabled state for all the parameters listed in the OpenGL specification. 05.01.02.00 - Fixed problem with storing the incorrect Z values in the hit buffer for quad strips in select mode. - Fixed problem of corrupting Multisample Enable setting when MSForceEnable is not found in registry.
