This release of the Wildcat PRO Display Driver will only install and run on systems running Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 4 (or later). This driver supports standard and wide format 24-inch and 28-inch monitors. -------------------------- End of Version Information -------------------------- Installation Help ================= This driver will not run on any machine which does not have PCI backplane hardware. The Wildcat Pro Display driver will work with both the AGP and AGP Pro versions of the Wildcat Display adapter. See MANIFEST.TXT for a list of delivered files. WINDOWS NT 4.0 SETUP - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! --------------------------------------------- All previous versions of the display driver labeled, "Intergraph Display Driver," "Intense3D Display Driver," "Intense3D Intense4kDrv Display Driver," and "Intense Wildcat Driver," should be uninstalled prior to loading the "Intense3D Wildcat PRO Display Driver." See the Uninstall Help section for step-by-step instructions on uninstalling these drivers. To install the Intense3D Wildcat PRO Display Driver: 1. Log into the system using an account that has Administrator privileges. 2. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel and double-click Display to activate the Display Properties dialog. 3. Click the Settings tab. 4. Click the Display Type button to activate the Display Type dialog. 5. Click the Change button to activate the Change Display dialog. 6. Click the Have Disk button to activate the Install From Disk dialog. 7. Click Browse to activate the Locate File dialog. Using the Locate File dialog, find the directory that contains the driver installation files, and click Open. Select OK in the Install From Disk dialog. 8. Another dialog labeled Change Display will appear listing the title of the driver to be installed. Verify that Intense3D Wildcat PRO is highlighted and click OK. 9. A dialog labeled "Third-party Drivers" will appear prompting you to proceed with the installation of a third-party driver. Click YES. 10. A dialog box labeled Installing Driver should appear indicating that the drivers were successfully installed. Click OK. 11. Click Close in the Display Type dialog. 12. Click Close in the Display Properties dialog. 13. A final dialog will appear and state the system settings have been changed and that you must restart your computer in order for the new settings to take effect. Click Yes in order to reboot the system. 14. The Wildcat PRO Display Driver will be loaded during system reboot and display at the 640 x 480 resolution. However, if an earlier version of the Intense3D Wildcat PRO Driver was installed, the resolution will be the last one selected. After logging on again, the resolution can be changed in the Display Properties dialog. 15. Following the system shutdown and subsequent logon, a dialog will appear stating that the current settings are invalid. This dialog appears the first time you logon after you have changed the display driver. Click OK and configure the display settings to meet your requirements. WINDOWS NT 4.0 UNATTENDED INSTALLATION -------------------------------------- 1. Add the following entries to the unattended.txt file: [Display] ConfigureAtLogon=0 BitsPerPel = 32 XResolution = 1024 YResolution = 768 VRefresh = 75 AutoConfirm=1 InstallDriver=1 InfFile=oemsetup.inf InfOption="Intense 3D Wildcat Pro" NOTE: BitsPerPel, XResolution, YResolution, and VRefresh are all variable. These values can be set to any valid Display Driver setting. NOTE: InfOption is variable. It has a matching value in the oemsetup.inf file. This matching value can be found under [Intense3D.Mfg] on the left side of the = sign. These two values must match exactly. 2. Copy all display driver files to the $oem$\DISPLAY folder of the distribution point. Any files on multiple installation disks should be copied to this folder. Unattended Upgrade ================== The following procedure is to be used when installing the driver or upgrading the driver on a system with the operating system already installed and operational. 1) Copy wcg_inst.exe and wcg_inst.ini into a directory along with all the display driver files. 2) Edit the wcg_inst.ini file to select the desired installation behaviour. 3) Run wcg_inst.exe. 4) The driver installation will not be complete until after the system has rebooted. Uninstall Help ============== To uninstall this version of the Intense3D Wildcat PRO Display Driver, use the Add/Remove Programs utility in the Control Panel. WINDOWS NT 4.0 UNINSTALL ------------------------ 1. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel and double-click Add/Remove Programs. 2. On the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog, select "Intense3D Display Driver" from the list of available programs, and click Add/Remove to uninstall the existing driver. 3. A dialog will appear which describes the function of the Intense3D Display Driver uninstall program and you will be prompted to verify the removal of the Display Driver. Click Yes to complete the driver removal. Screen Resolution and Refresh Rate Table ======================================== To access the list of available screen resolutions and refresh rates, the "List All Modes..." button on the "Settings" page of the Display Properties page must be selected. 1. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel and double-click Display. 2. From the Display Properties dialog, click the Settings tab. 3. Click "List All Modes..." to access the table of supported screen resolutions and refresh rates. Monitor Selection ================= The "Intense3D Monitor" page in Display Properties must be used to change the monitor type. 1. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel and double-click Display. 2. On the Display Properties dialog, click the Intense3D Monitor tab. 3. Click the "Configure Monitor" button. At this point the "Configure Monitor" dialog will be displayed. 4. Select one of the three monitor types: Generic, Plug-and-Play, or Vendor. Selection of one of these three monitor types will potentially alter the list of resolutions reported in the "Available Resolutions" field. - The Generic monitor type will provide a list of generic resolutions. - The Plug-and-Play monitor type will provide a list of the resolutions supported by the monitor plugged into the system if the monitor is Plug-and-Play capable. - The Vendor monitor selection allows you to choose a specific monitor from the provided list of monitors. Once you have chosen a monitor, the resolution and refresh rate nearest to the current settings will be highlighted. 5. Select a resolution from list of Available Resolutions. 6. Click OK to accept the new monitor, resolution, and refresh settings. A dialog box will display inquiring whether you wish to keep the new settings. If you select Yes, the settings will be changed and the Configure Monitor dialog will be dismissed. If you select No, the settings will revert to previous settings and the Configure Monitor dialog is not dismissed. You may select Cancel to discard any changes you have made on the Configure Monitor dialog. Display Modes ============= The Intense3D Monitor page in Display Properties must be used to change display modes. 1. Choose the Display icon in the Control Panel. 2. Click the Intense3D Monitor tab. 3. Click Configure Monitor. At this point the Configure Monitor dialog will be displayed. 4. Select a display mode from the Display Modes pull-down. 5. Select a resolution from the Available Resolutions list. 6. Click OK to accept the new display mode. You may click Cancel to discard any changes you have made on the Configure Monitor dialog. Context-Sensitive Help ====================== Context-sensitive help is provided for Intense 3D dialogs in the display properties applet. The only exception to this is the Configuration Wizard, which provides detailed instructions for each step. Context-sensitive help for a particular control is accessible using three different methods. - Click the question mark located on the title bar of the active dialog. The cursor will change to a question mark with an arrow. Next, click on the control on which you wish to receive help. - Right-click the control on which you wish to receive help. - Set the focus on the control you wish to receive help about and press F1. Any of these methods will bring up a small box filled with text that provides information on the control you have chosen. Refer to Heidi readme file. 04.00.02.24 - Fixed a potential hang with GDI lines having more than two vertices. - Fixed a problem with OpenGL raster data somtimes using an incorrect depth or texture coordinate value. - Fixed a problem revealed with Autodesk Inventor when the work around field in the registry was set to 0x0 instead of 0x200, which disables the software work around. 04.00.02.23 - Fixed access violation when running imaghang. - Fixed problem with EDID data from some monitors. 04.00.02.22 - Fixed a hang that occurred when running glean. - Fixed a problem with not drawing textures on the correct wall in Punch Super Home 04.00.02.21 - Fixed a bug revealed using the OpenGL test teval.exe. 04.00.02.20 - Fixes for potential lockups when closing multisample windows and when double buffered. - Fixed incorrect clears for Interlaced Stereo when multisampling. - Fixed lockup problem when several windows overlap a multisample window. - Fixed problem when clearing only depth of the multisample buffer. - Fixed problem when moving a multisample window around on the desktop. 04.00.02.19 - Fixed problems with texturing when combined with positional lighting on the Wildcat 4110. 04.00.02.18 - Fixed a system hang that could occur when using the WGL_I3D_swap_frame_usage extension. - Added 0xa6 command sequence to obtain EDID data from some monitors. - Fixed a bug where glBitmaps and some glDrawPixels did not render correctly. This problem was manifested in the SDRC application as text not being drawn. - Fixed a bug where the Resolution Change dialog was being displayed when the user hit OK despite the fact that a resolution was not being selected. Now will work if all files are dumped into the same directory. - Fixed a problem with eye-space positional lighting rendering solid white. 04.00.02.11 - Fixed a hang that can occur during system boot after configuring the wildcat bus interface controller for fast writes and AGP protocol DMA's. 04.00.02.10 - For the WGL_I3D_digital_video_control extension corrected the default value for WGL_DIGITAL_VIDEO_CURSOR_ALPHA_FRAMEBUFFER_I3D. 04.00.02.09 - Fixed improper words in simplified and traditional Chinese resource dlls. - Made all message boxes in the display applet modal. - Fixed a problem where the temporary directory was not being deleted when an automated install failed. - Made changes to improve Winbench performance. 04.00.02.08 - Fixed access violation in Marquee. 04.00.02.07 - Fixed another access violation problem in some draw image applications. - Changed successful return value for automated installation program to zero and failing return values to non-zero. 04.00.02.06 - Fixed SetLayerPalette return value. - Fixed Non-framesequential, overlay applications rendering incorrectly. 04.00.02.05 - Fixed a hang when running proe2000i. - Fixed an access violation problem in some draw image applications. - Fixed a hang that can occur when running with animated cursors. - Fixed a blue screen that can occur during boot if all of the needed system resources cannot be allocated. - Fixed a 3d Studio Max edge rendering problem. - Fixed problems with depth offset used for hidden line rendering in SolidDesigner and other apps. - Fixed a problem introduced in 04.00.02.03 with double buffering pixel formats which contain overlay planes. 04.00.02.04 - Fixed problem in the glValidBackBufferHint extension used by Autocad. - Improved performance of Ford Envision application. 04.00.02.03 - Fixed a problem in running underwater_stereo.exe when only one stereo buffer is drawn correctly. - Removed some inconsistencies between functions DrvSwapBuffers and ICDSwapLayerBuffers. - Fixed a problem that for some kind of skinny texture map (e.g. width=4096, height=8) with mipmap, it may be falsely considered too big to fit in texture memory. - Fixed hang when coming out of full screen DOS mode while an OpenGL window is opened. - Set Digital Video to post-palette with cursor whenever a flat panel monitor is present. Trouble Shooting ================ IF YOU BOOT NT AND THE SCREEN DOES NOT SYNCHRONIZE PROPERLY, DO THE FOLLOWING: Reboot the system to NT, but hit the space bar immediately when prompted. Select 'Use Last Known Good' in the Configuration Recovery Menu. This approach assumes the last configuration was a valid configuration, however. If the 'Last Known Good' method does not apply to your case, try selecting the VGA option from the system boot menu. Selecting this option will boot NT with the VGA driver instead of the GL Display Driver. At this point you can reinstall the Display Driver. If all else fails: Reboot the system to DOS and remove the file WCGMPD.SYS in the directory %SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS. Reboot the system again and boot into VGA mode. Since the Intense3D Wildcat Pro Miniport Driver has been removed, NT will use the Microsoft standard VGA driver. Re-install the Wildcat Display Driver using the Display Properties page. Reboot the system. Following the reboot, select an acceptable resolution using the Display Properties page. If your system does not have DOS (NT only), and your installation of NT uses the standard DOS file system (FATFS), you may boot from floppy, then remove this file from the system drive. If your NT system was built on OS/2, or if your NT resides on HPFS, you may boot from an OS/2 system recovery (boot) floppy and remove the file. If you have an NTFS- formatted system disk, you will need to reload the NT Operating System (DO NOT choose to reformat your system disk during reinstallation; this will erase the data on your hard drive).
