Cirrus Logic 546x video driver for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 version 1.71b This package contains an update to the device driver for the Cirrus Logic 546x video adapter that comes preinstalled in your IBM(R) computer. This update requires approximately 1.5 MB of space on your hard disk (drive C). This update package is intended for IBM PC 300GL machine types 6561-xxx and 6591-xxx that come preinstalled with a Cirrus Logic 546x video adapter. Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation. Downloading the update ---------------------- 1. Click the file link named Qb8t15a.exe to download the file from the Web page. 2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file. Installing the update ---------------------- 1. Click Start, highlight Find, then click Files and folders. 2. Type qb8t15a.exe in the search box, then click Find Now. This will locate the qb8t15a.exe file you just downloaded. 3. Double-click the icon for qb8t15a.exe. 4. When prompted for a drive letter compatible with a 1.44M 3.5" disk, type A and press Enter. A license agreement will appear. 5. To read the license agreement, press Enter to move from page to page. When you reach the end of the license agreement, you will hear three beeps. 6. If you agree with the license agreement, press Y and Enter. If you do not agree, press CTRL+C to exit the installation. 7. Put a blank 1.44M 3.5" floppy disk in drive A and press Enter. The installation disk will be created. 8. Once the extraction is complete and you are prompted to press Y to do another copy, press Enter to exit the program. 9. Click Start, then select Settings, then click Control Panel. This will open the Control Panel main window. 10. Double-click Display, then click Settings, then click Display Type, then click Change. 11. Click Have Disk, then when asked where to copy manufacturer's files from, type in A:\ and then click OK. 12. Click on Cirrus Logic 546x 1.71b, then click OK. 13. When the Third-Party Drivers window appears click Yes. A message stating that the drivers were successfully installed will be displayed. 14. Close the Display Type and Display Properties windows. 15. When asked to reboot your machine, remove the floppy disk from the drive, then click Yes. 16. Log into Windows NT as usual. 17. When the Invalid Display Settings window appears click OK. 18. Select the desired Desktop Area, Color Palette and Refresh Frequency. 19. Click the Test button. When the Testing Mode window appears, click OK. A display pattern will appear to test the selected settings. 20. If the test bitmap was displayed correctly, click OK. Otherwise, click Cancel then repeat steps 18 and 19. 21. Click Apply, then click OK to save the settings. Note: If you experience difficulties with adjusting your display settings, you may need to reapply the Windows NT Service Pack you currently have installed on your machine.
