SiS(R) 540 Video Driver for Windows 2000
version 1.01f README

This package installs an update to the Microsoft(R) Windows(R)
2000 device driver for the SiS 540 Integrated Video driver that
comes preinstalled in your IBM(R) Aptiva(R) computer.
This update requires approximately 19 MB of space on your hard
disk (drive C). 

This update package is intended for IBM Aptiva machine types 
2193-xx, and 2196-xx that come with a preinstalled SiS 540 
video adapter.

Print this file so that you can refer to it during the 
installation.


Downloading the update
----------------------
1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page.
2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save
   the downloaded file.


Extracting the update
---------------------
1. Click Start -> Find -> Files and folders.
2. Type qo5z00us.exe in the search box, then click Find Now.
   This will locate the qo5z00us.exe file you just downloaded. 
3. Double-click the icon for qo5z00us.exe. 
4. Click Next. Read the license agreement.
5. Click I Agree.
6. Click Finish.
7. Click Yes.
8. Click OK.


Installing the video device driver
----------------------------------
1. Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
2. Double-click Display.
3. Click the Settings tab.
4. Click Advanced.
5. Click the Adapter tab.
6. Click Properties.
7. Click the Driver tab.
8. Click Update Driver.
9. Click Next.
10. Click Display a list of the known drivers from this device
    so that I can choose a specific driver.
11. Click Next.
12. Click Have Disk.
13. Type C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\QO5Z00US\WIN2000.
14. Click OK.
15. Click Next.
16. Select SiS 540, then click Next.
17. Click Next. A warning dialog will appear.
18. Click Yes.
19. Click Finish.
20. Restart the computer.


Installing the AGP device driver
--------------------------------
1. Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
2. Double-click System.
3. Click the Hardware tab.
4. Click Device Manager.
5. Right-click on the PCI-PCI bridge which represents your
   AGP bridge.
6. Click Properties.
7. Click the Driver tab.
8. Click Update Driver.
9. Click Next.
10. Click Display a list of the known drivers from this device
    so that I can choose a specific driver.
11. Click Next.
12. Click Have Disk.
13. Type C:\IBMTOOLS\Drivers\QO5Z00US\WIN2000\AGP\WIN2000.
14. Click OK.
15. Click Next.
16. Select your AGP driver, then click Next.
18. Click Yes.
19. Click Finish.
20. Restart the computer.


Testing for successful installation
-----------------------------------
1. Make sure that your system is shut down and restarted before
   you continue.
2. Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
3. Double-click the Display icon.
4. Click the Settings tab.
5. Click Advanced.
6. Click the Information tab.
7. Verify that the software is 1.01f.
