SAVAGE4 driver and utilities for Windows 98 Installation Readme version 8.10.11 This package installs a display driver in Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 98 for the following display adapters: SR9, and Diamond Stealth 520/540. This file applies to Aptiva machine types 2178-xx, and 2198-xx. This update takes approximately 2.8 MB of space on your hard disk drive (C:). Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation. Downloading the update ---------------------- 1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page. 2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file. Extracting the update --------------------- 1. Click Start, then select Settings, and then click Control Panel. 2. Type e59z15us.exe in the search box, then click Find Now. This will locate the e59z15us.exe file you just downloaded. 3. Double-click the icon for e59z15us.exe. The directory should remain C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\E59Z15US. 4. Click Next. 5. Click I Agree. 6. Click Finish. 7. Click Yes. 8. Click OK. Installing the update --------------------- 1. Start Windows 98 in VGA mode. If you need to switch to VGA mode, see "Switching to VGA mode" below. Otherwise continue. 2. Click Start, then select Settings, and then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the Display icon. The Display Properties window appears. 4. Click the Settings tab. 5. Click the Advanced button. 6. Under Adapter Type, click the Change button. 7. In the Select Device window, click the Have Disk button. 8. Change the path statement to C:\IBMTOOLS\Drivers\E59Z15US\OEM then click OK. 9. Select the appropriate Savage4 driver from the list and click OK. If a message appears stating that one or more driver files are older than the files on the system, click Yes. 10. Click Close. 11. Select the appropriate resolution using the Desktop Area and Color Palette options. 12. Click Apply. 13. Click Yes to restart your PC. Installation is now complete. Switching the VGA mode ---------------------- 1. Right-click on the blank Desktop. 2. Select Properties from the pop-up menu. 3. Click the Settings tab. 4. Click the Advanced button. 5. Under Adapter, click the Change button. 6. On the Update Device Driver Wizard page, click Next. 7. Select "Display a List of All Drivers..." and click Next. 8. Select Show All Hardware. 9. On the Manufacturer's List, select Standard Display Types. 10. On the Models list, select Standard PCI graphics adapter (VGA). 11. Click Next. 12. Click Next. 13. Click Finish. 14. Click Close. 15. Click Close. 16. Click Yes to restart the computer. You are now in VGA mode.
