ELSA(R) ERAZOR III(R) Windows(R) 9x AGP video adapter device driver version 4.12.01.0110 README. This package installs an update to the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 9x device driver for the ELSA(R) ERAZOR III(R) AGP video adapter that comes preinstalled in your IBM(R) Aptiva(R) computer. This update requires approximately 2 MB of space on your hard disk (drive C). This update package is intended for IBM Aptiva machine types 2174-xx that come with a preinstalled ELSA(R) ERAZOR III(R) AGP video adapter. Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation. Downloading the update ---------------------- 1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page. 2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file. Installing the update --------------------- To install the update, do the following: 1. Click Start -> Find -> Files and folders. 2. Type aw1z01us.exe in the search box, then click Find Now. This will locate the aw1z01us.exe file you just downloaded. 3. Double-click the icon for aw1z01us.exe. 4. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the device driver. Testing for successful installation ----------------------------------- To verify that the installation was successful, do the following: 1. Make sure that your system is shut down and restarted before you continue. 2. From the Windows 98 desktop, Click Start, Settings, Control Panel. 3. Double-click the Display icon. 4. Click the Settings tab, then Click Advanced. 5. Click the Adapter tab. 6. Verify that the software driver version is 4.12.01.0110-0000. Issues resolved this update --------------------------- The following technical issues are resolved with this update. 1. Corrected issues with frequency timings at higher refresh rates on some monitors. Note, it is necessary to install and use the specified INF - file delivered with your monitor. For further information please refer to the documentation that came with your monitor. 2. Improved DirectX 7 DirectDraw/Direct3D support. Further information on DirectX 7 can be obtained from the following Microsoft(R) web site http://www.microsoft.com/directx. Limitations ----------- The following technical limitations were found during the driver qualification process. 1. Some MPEG1 files showed poor playback performance. 2. If "3D Revelator" is activated the Transform & Lighting capability is temporarily deactivated. 3. Task switching while 3D applications are active leads to corruption of textures in some cases. 4. OpenGL screen savers often hang or crash during system suspend/resume. 5. Mouse trails are not displayed, because the NVidia video adapter chip accelerates this Windows functionality in hardware.
