Where does Popple Grow?
Lake States Forest Experiment Station Aspen Reports

Folks, the material on this page is presented "AS-IS", nothing should be construed as offering a professional opinion. I am not professionally trained, educated, or credentialed, nor did I sleep at Holiday Inn Express last night.

Further, I am not blue and totally lack a magic tail that can be plugged into a Popple root.

Where does Popple Grow?

Basically, yes. Popple is the Swiss Army knife of trees, but transpiration provides a hard stop to them dominating the world.

Soil-site Relations for Trembling Aspen in NW Ontario Yanjun Li Aug 1991
The interplay of texture, moisture, and nutrients [Soil Attributes] determines the vigor [or mere existence] of a Popple stand.

There is no single soil or terrain aspect that precludes the presence of Popples, other than sand or standing water. As long as the transpiration losses do not exceed the water intake, Popples can tolerate a wide range of environments.
