The performance of the IBM 8517 Color Display matches the requirements of these units. Two display modes, 1024 by 768 at 70Hz non-interlaced refresh rate, and 1280 by 1024 resolution at a high-interlaced rate of 51.5Hz frame/103Hz field, are available. Extremely low frequency magnetic field (ELMF) and very low frequency magnetic field (VLMF) have been reduced in response to customer requests and emerging international requirements. The physical characteristics allow the display to be installed on the user's desk, a normal working environment. BUSINESS SOLUTIONS The display includes price/performance enhancements, making it the display of choice for an entry display with IBM RISC System/6000 POWERstation/POWERserver 220, 22G and 22W. Applications such as image or graphics can be run efficiently at the desktop. The physical characteristics allow for desktop use with potential savings through elimination of the need for a specialized workstation environment. GROWTH ENABLEMENT The 8517 Color Display represents growth in performance and functionality. The design point of 1024 by 768 addressability at a refresh rate of 70Hz non-interlaced, represents enhanced display resolution and improved video rates. Existing applications can be migrated to take advantage of the front-of-screen performance. New applications now become viable at the desk. The increased screen size allows more windows to be viewed and, subject to the application, additional data to be shown. The display provides an entry into more extensive graphic and image applications.
