ABSTRACT

Effective March 10, 1995, IBM will withdraw from marketing the AIX (R) PS/2 (R) Operating System Version 1.3 and related licensed programs, as listed in the Notice to IBM Customers. The programs are licensed under the IBM Program License Agreement.

After March 10, 1995, customers will no longer be able to obtain these programs directly from IBM. However, these programs may be obtained on an as-available basis through IBM authorized remarketers.

Effective December 6, 1995, IBM will withdraw from marketing Additional Licenses for the AIX PS/2 Operating System Version 1.3.

MARKETING INFORMATION

Orders for the withdrawn programs will be handled as follows:

Existing orders will be filled if the calculated arrival date is scheduled between December 6, 1994, and April 10, 1995, which is one month following the date of withdrawal.
New orders placed after December 6, 1994, but before March 10, 1995, will be filled on an as-available basis if the customer-requested arrival date is between December 6, 1994, and April 10, 1995.
Orders placed after March 10, 1995, will not be filled.
Orders for Additional Licenses can be placed by customers who have previously acquired a program package for the withdrawn program until December 6, 1995, which is 12 months following December 6, 1994.

The IBM Customer Agreement (ICA) must be in effect.

ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION

Volume Discount

The revised Volume Discount Exhibit -- IBM AIX for RISC System/6000 (R) Licensed Programs (VP8308) must be used for all new volume commitments effective immediately. New volume commitments or special bids for the withdrawn programs will not be accepted on or after March 10, 1995. The revised exhibit is available through HONE.

Volume Discount Transition

The revisions to the exhibit apply automatically to customers with volume commitments for IBM AIX for RISC System/6000 Licensed Programs in effect. The attached Notice to IBM Customers should be sent to on-order customers and customers with existing volume commitments, but the revised exhibit should not be sent.

ADMINISTRATIVE ACTION REQUIRED

Customer Notification

Customers who have the withdrawn programs on order must be sent the Notice to IBM Customers.

In addition, customers with a Volume Discount Exhibit -- AIX for RISC System/6000 Licensed Programs or special bid in effect must be sent the Notice to IBM Customers.

Customers affected by this announcement, designated by the local IBM office to receive notification directly from headquarters, have been mailed a copy of the Notice to IBM Customers. A control log of affected customers is being mailed separately. Local IBM offices must use the MMS inquiry accessed by entering GET/DEFINE ANNXXXXXX FROM(NOTICE), replacing the Xs with the announcement letter number, and/or local records, to identify activity beyond the file status date of the control log.

Customers affected by this announcement, designated by the local IBM office to receive notification from the local IBM office, must be sent the Notice to IBM Customers within 10 calendar days of this announcement. This customer notification must be documented with a locally initiated control log documenting the mailing dates, or if delivered, the date and name of the customer executive to whom the notice was delivered. File this control log locally for future reference to substantiate proof of customer notification.

Copies of the Notice to IBM Customers may be obtained through DAWNHOST.

If your office had no customers notified directly by headquarters, and MMS defines no customers when the inquiry is made, no further action is required.

The withdrawn programs may be removed by the customer or IBM from the Volume Discount Eligible Program List for AIX for RISC System/6000 (R) Licensed Programs (VP8308) on March 10, 1995.

Because IBM's supply of these licensed programs is limited, ordering limitations may apply, including those from customers with a volume commitment or special bids in effect. Existing orders will be filled if the calculated arrival date is scheduled between December 6, 1994, and April 10, 1995, which is one month following the date of withdrawal. New orders placed after December 6, 1994, but before March 10, 1995, will be filled on an as-available basis if the customer-requested arrival date is between December 6, 1994, and April 10, 1995. Orders placed after March 10, 1995, will not be filled. Requests for deferrals of orders beyond April 10, 1995, will result in the cancellation of the order.

Orders for Additional Licenses can be placed by customers who have previously acquired a program package for the withdrawn program until December 6, 1995, which is 12 months following the date of this announcement.
