A nice tidbit I picked up from the UserBlue web site, which is "A SHARE Forum for IBM Users of UNIX System Technologies" on August 13th, 2002. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is a company called Compunix that sells a couple of neat utilities. See http://www.compunix.com. They are located near Brussels, Belgium. - Their undelete utility will recover files that have been erased. They distribute a free utility that will analyse what files are possibly able to be recovered. When running this on jasper's 1GB /tmp file system, it reported there were 8,094 "inodes found that could be interesting." The utility's name is /u/jasper/v43fslist. You need to be root to run it. The way this works is, this utility will just report on the files. If you really want to recover something, you gotta buy. Prices are somewhere between $120 and $640. This utility does not support AFS (and likely not DFS either). - The second utility allows you to shrink file systems, which sounds really neat!
