To get HyperTerminal to work when connected to an RS/6000 serial port,

- For a B50, use a serial cable without the null modem, but beware of
  using the wrong serial cable.  The grey one works ok, but at least
  one of the white ones, do not.  Evidently, they're different cables.

  For a 7013-J50 or an H70, use the null modem.

- The serial port on your laptop is COM1.
- Have a getty running.
- The default settings are 9600 baud, 8 bits, No stop bit, 1
