It's not at all clear how to configure the RAID-capable disks on those Netfinity servers. I spent hours on April 8, 2004 figuring it out. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - On the Netfinity 7000 series with the Mylex DAC960P Disk Array Controllers (DAC) on them, you need to 1) Boot in DOS mode. That's why there's a DOS partition on them. 2) Once in DOS, run \DAC960\DACCFG\DACCF. The model they have is you dedicate real disks to a "Pack", then configure "Packs" into RAID arrays, making "System Drives". On accipiter for example, it had ---- Packs ---- Drives A B C D E F ============= = = = = = = IBM 9 GB 3 3 Seagate 2 GB 3 IBM 17 GB 1 1 1 = = = = = = System Drive # 0 1 2 3 4 5 Configured as RAID 5 5 5 7 7 7 Capacity (GB) 18 18 4 17 17 17 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - For the Netfinity 5500's, you need to find the CD labeled "Server Guide 4.1.2 Software Guide" and boot from the CD. You can then select "Diskette Factory" and create a bootable diskette named "IBM ServeRAID Adapter Disk Array Configuration ver. 3.10.02". Booting that diskette puts you into the IBM ServerAID Configuration utility.
