Go to this URL to download recommended maintenance levels or single PTF's. http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/support/pseries/aixfixes.html ======================================================================= On 2-2-2005, I saw that IBM had some tool called fixget, which according to http://techsupport.services.ibm.com/server/fixget, fixget is a web-accessible tool that provides information about fixes for AIX. The tool is intended for use in a scripting environment. fixget can be used to obtain information about specific fixes, security fixes, critical fixes, and maintenance levels. There are many options to control the output of the tool. Information returned always includes URLs to the filesets that make up the requested fix package. Other information can be requested, such as the 'memo-to-user' section from the individual PTFs, warnings about unresolved regressions, etc. This information can then be used to obtain the filesets. The fixget tool is located at the following URL: http://www7b.software.ibm.com/webapp/set2/fixget Related services ======================================================================= When Fixdist fails you, try (r)ftp-ing the fix directly from the Boulder server, ala cd /afs/d/software/fixes/Fixdist-new ftp aix.boulder.ibm.com login as anonymous "password" is rick.jasper@thomson.com cd /aix/fixes/v4/os (or devices or X11 or xlc or ??) binary the fixes were in the files .., e.g. bos.net.tcp.server.4.1.4.11.bff and bos.net.tcp.server.4.1.4.11.info ======================================================================= To find what used to be called "Latest AIX 4.3.3 Fixes as of ..." inside Fixdist, under the "APAR View", you now look for "IY28107 - (AIXV43 only) AIX 4330-10 RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE PACKAGE" ======================================================================= I saw this piece of fixdist news on August 7, 2003, coincidently just the day after it was posted. FixDist News Last updated: Aug 06, 2003 ************************************************************ IMPORTANT: The application known as FixDist will be withdrawn from service on Sept 04 2003. AIX 4.3 fixes are now available from the AIX Fix Delivery Center, at: https://techsupport.services.ibm.com/server/aix.fdc And on 7-7-2004, what I got was a 145 MB, 4331011.tar.gz file that had 185 Unnnnnn.bff files in it. They evidently no longer package their update files with the name of the fileset they update. That really sucks. ************************************************************ ======================================================================= This came from an AIX mailing list from Princeton University on 8-29-2, https://new-lists.princeton.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0208&L=aix-l&T=0&F=&S=&P=32013 The following details mandatory registration and instructions for searching for, and downloading, AIX v5 fixes.
