Power on password on 6381 Si


PROBLEM - The power on password on 6381 si models may fail to restrict access to the system.

The power on password can be defeated if the system is warm booted while the password prompt is displayed or if 3 incorrect password entries are made and then followed by a warm boot. A warm boot is done by pressing the ctrl-alt-del keys simultaneously.

Systems AFFECTED - All 6381 Si with FLASH BIOS levels 27A, 30A, 31A.

SOLUTION - This exposure is fixed in FLASH level 33 which is downloadable from the IBM BBS
