PROBLEM - POST error 161, 162, or 163 may appear on some Valuepoint 425SX models.

Systems AFFECTED - 6382/S and 6384/D with 425SX processors and system board FRU part number 61G3215.

SOLUTION - To determine if there is a problem with your system board perform the following:

  2.  Verify the date and time setting in the configuration utility.  reset if necessary. Press escape to save the changes.
  3.  Power the system off. Leave the system powered off for a minimum  of 10 minutes. Power the system back on and allow the system to  complete post.
  4.  If no 161, 162, or 163 error is evident during POST and the entry  in the configuration reflects the 10 minutes in which the system was  powered off, this information does not apply.
  5.  If the system does POST a 161, 162, or 163 error during POST and  the system board memory SIMM connectors are numbered J18 thru J21  (type 1 system board) this information does not apply.
  6.  If the system does POST a 161, 162, or 163 error during POST and  the system board memory SIMM connectors are numbered J19 thru J22  (type 2 system board) this information does apply.
  7.  If the system meets the criteria in #6, measure the battery  voltage. This voltage should be approximately 3 volts. If the  battery voltage is not correct then replace the battery.
