                Using FAXit from Alien Computing

Sending From Windows 3.0 Applications

FAXit from Alien Computing has been included with the Complete
FAX 9624 to allow you to send faxes directly from Windows 3.0
applications.

To send faxes while you work on other applications, both CFAX
9624 and FAXit use a background scheduler program. The background
code used by these programs can be automatically loaded every
time you power up your computer, or manually loaded, just before
you want to send a fax message.

These background scheduler programs cannot both be loaded at the
same time. If they are loaded simultaneously, they will conflict
and can cause your computer to malfunction.

If you are going to send faxes from Windows 3.0 programs only,
follow the FAXit installation instructions to load the FAXit
program and its background code only.

Sending From DOS Applications

If you are only going to send faxes from DOS programs, follow the
CFAX/9600 installation instructions to load the CFAX/9600 program
and its background code only.

Sending From Both DOS and Windows 3.0 Applications

If you are going to send faxes from both DOS and Windows
programs, you need to install both versions of the fax software,
but you must manually load and unload the appropriate background
software as required.

Before you install anything, you need to decide which background
code program to load automatically, or whether you want to
manually load background code when your are ready to send a fax.

NOTE: You may only choose to have ONE background program loaded
via your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, so choose the program that you will
use most often.
Unloading CFAX 9624 background

If the background fax software, (CFBACK) provided with CFAX 9624
is loaded and you want to send faxes from a Windows 3.0
application, you must unload CFBACK before you load the FAXit
scheduler.

To do this:

Type FAX_OFF at the DOS prompt, then press return.

After the software has been unloaded you can then load the FAXit
background scheduler program.

To do this:

Type C:\FAXIT\SCH.EXE /HC:\FAXIT and press return before loading
Windows.

Unloading the FAXit background

If you have loaded the background fax software provided with
FAXit you need to exit any Windows application.

To unload the background code:

Go to the directory with the FAXit program loaded, (the default
is C:\FAXIT).

Type SCH /S and press return.
This will unload the FAXit background. To load the CFAX 9624

background code:

     
Type CFBACK and press return. NOTE: If you have outgoing faxes in
one background code queue and unload the code before the faxes
are sent, they will NOT be sent.
