The user of said information does so at his or her own risk. To change CAM to make it answer on one ring, you must modify the CONFIG.CAM file using a hex editor such as the one found in PC- TOOLS, or use DEBUG. Please make a backup copy of this file before making any changes. A portion of the CONFIG.CAM file is listed below, with the byte to be changed underlined. The display shows it set for 8 rings. Change this byte to 01 for one ring. Note: Do NOT set the value to 00, as this will cause CAM to never answer the phone! Type debug at the C:\CAM subdirectory, followed by the filename CONFIG.CAM as shown below. You will see a dash (-) mark. Type D and hit return. You should now see a hex map similar to the one below. This example is using DEBUG and the last column should be disregarded. C:\CAM>DEBUG CONFIG.CAM -D 157E:0100 01 00 01 00 20 02 01 00-00 00 01 00 01 00 05 00 157E:0110 00 00 08 00 01 00 37 00-01 00 01 00 1E 00 00 00 157E:0120 C8 00 C8 00 01 00 01 00-03 00 04 00 07 00 01 00 157E:0130 00 00 01 00 20 00 2D 00-2D 00 00 00 00 00 06 00 157E:0140 01 00 00 00 10 00 00 00-50 00 39 3B 00 00 00 20 157E:0150 20 00 00 20 20 00 00 20-20 00 4D 30 30 30 30 30 157E:0160 30 35 2E 4D 53 47 00 00-23 DB 75 03 E9 45 00 A1 157E:0170 76 27 40 A3 76 27 35 1E-76 27 BA 00 00 7F 01 4A - Type Q at the dash (-) mark to quit. Reboot your PC. Now the CAM will answer on one ring. Note: You must evaluate your system and needs carefully before changing CAM to one ring. The lower limit of two rings is set purposely because random fluctuations in line voltage can cause a false ring, The minimal setting of two rings prevents CAM from picking up the line in response to a false signal.
