I'm trying to do an installp of rpm.rte but I'm getting an error
on a missing requisite of bos.rte.libc. I can find the directory
with rpm.rte on ftp.software.ibm.com and was expecting
to find bos.rte.libc in there as well - I mean if there was a
dependency shouldn't they both be available for download??

I found the below about 5 minutes after posting, I think that answers
my question:

To get to libc version 5.1.0.0 you would have to update your OS to AIX
5.1.  There should be an old version of rpm for AIX on

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/aix/freeSoftware/aixtoolbox/INSTALLP/ppc/

Try the older ones and also you might check the Bull site:

http://www.bullfreeware.com/

In case anyone finds this via a google, I went to the above
ftp site and downloaded the .rte version ending in .20 to
my 4.x.x host and that worked fine, rpm -i was up after
the install.
