If the 8229 is loaded with a SNMP support module (STRT.X or STREE.X file), the Utility program will not link to the 8229. If the 8229 has the WAN module installed, the bridge utility program version 2.02 should be able to link to the 8229 mod 3 bridge, primary half, with no modem cables installed or if the communication link is down. The bridge code must be at version 2.x or later. If the 8229 utility program is running on a DOS station and is still unable to link to the 8229, make sure the LAN Support Program (LSP) code is at LSP version 1.38.
