Document: ER0957 Revised: 02/23/2001 Subject: DFIPD772E operation failed - invalid bridge definition Printable Version This tip applies to the following product(s): 8229 - -ALL- Message DFIPD772E operation failed - invalid bridge definition Explanation You are unable to use LBE program to link to the 8229 WAN bridge. Action Unlike the Token-Ring-to-Token-Ring and the Token-Ring/Ethernet versions of the 8229, when you use LBE to define a WAN bridge and try to link to it, you need to specify the bridge addresses differently. It is not in the documentation, but you need to make sure of the following: The PC you are using to link to the bridge needs to be connected to the same TR segment that the primary side of the bridge is connected to (if communication link is not operational). The Port-1 address needs to reflect the first of the 12-digit addresses on the label on the front of the primary half of the 8229 LAN bridge. The Port-2 address needs to reflect the first of the 12-digit addresses on the label on the front of the secondary half of the 8229 LAN bridge (this is different from local bridge definition).
