Uwe Sieber's UMBPCI.SYS v3.63 [31 KB, freeware, English] is the best FREEware DOS upper memory driver. Provides access to the Upper Memory Area (UMA) for loading devices/drivers/TSRs "high", using HIMEM.SYS extended memory manager, on Intel, FIC VIA, SiS and ALi PCI/AGP chipsets. Supports Intel Pentium/Pro/II/III/IV, AMD and Cyrix CPUs, in MS-DOS 5.00/6.xx, MS Windows 3.1x/9x/ME, DR-DOS, Open DOS and Novell DOS, WITHOUT the need for an extended/expanded DOS memory manager, like Microsoft EMM386.EXE, Quarterdeck QEMM, Helix NetRoom RM386, Qualitas 386MAX, Lineo DR-DOS EMM386 etc.
Add a DEVICE line for UMBPCI.SYS in CONFIG.SYS, AFTER the HIMEM.SYS line, and use DEVICEHIGH (in CONFIG.SYS) and LOADHIGH (in AUTOEXEC.BAT) to load ALL devices/drivers/TSRs high properly!
Takes only 208 Bytes of conventional RAM and allows up to 629 KB of free low DOS memory.

You can load HIMEM.SYS in upper memory by using HIRAM.EXE v1.9 [74 KB, freeware] in combination with UMBPCI.SYS.
UMBPCI.SYS is IDEAL for using FastVid, ONLY IF you own a Pentium Pro/II/III/IV class CPU!
