Primary or secondary IDE drives are disabled by detaching the paddle card and disabling the PCI interrupt. To attach the paddle card, insert it into an ISA slot and connect PCW1 to W1. The paddle card is used to transfer IRQ14 and IRQ15 signals to the PCI bus on older mainboards that do not have this capability. MISCELLANEOUS TECHNICAL NOTES Your mainboard and BIOS determine operating modes. If your mainboard and BIOS support plug-and-play, the controller can operate in PCI native mode. If not, the controller operates in legacy mode.
