Rerouting a Material Link

This task shows you how to reroute a Material Link, either because it is broken, or because you want to replace the material of all plies with another one.
Available in Composites Engineering Design (CPE) and Composites Design for Manufacturing (CPM).
Open the ManufacturingData1.CATPart document.
You are going to replace the material KEVLAR4 that is applied to the ply with the material S1454_G803
  1. Click Composites Parameters .
    The Composites Parameters dialog box is displayed and is populated with the information about the applied material:

    Note that no material properties are displayed when a material link is not available or broken.

  2. Select the line of the material you want to reroute.
    Multi-selection is available.
    The Reroute Material Link becomes available.

  3. Click Reroute Material Link. The Material Cache Reroute dialog box is displayed:


    Material Catalog displays the path and name of the current catalog. Click ... to select another one.
    New Catalog Materials displays the list of the material available in the catalog:

Note that a correspondence between the current material and those present in the new catalog is searched.
  • The search is based on the names.
  • If a correspondence is found, it is proposed in the New material to be used column.
    If no correspondence is found, this column is left blank.
  • If the correspondence found is not correct, or if no correspondence is found, select another material from the New Catalog Materials drop-down list.
 
  1. Select S1454_G803. The dialog box is updated accordingly.

  2. Click OK. The Composites Parameters dialog box is updated.
    Do not forget to key in the Material ID.

  3. Click OK.
    The new material is applied to the plies.
    The specification tree is updated.
