Subject: Workaround for Resizing "rootvg" Disks Located on VIO Server

Audience: All

Date: April 2, 2007

The March 2007 Issue of the IBM Systems Magazine has a workaround that allows you to "dynamically expand rootvg" disks located on mirrored VIO servers. The workaround is needed because the command "chvg -g rootvg" on the client does not pick up the LV size change on the VIO server ("extentlv").

The IBM Systems Magazine is located at Search for "Dynamically expand rootvg", or the March 2007 issue of the magazine.

Thanks to Steve Pittman for suggesting this tip.
