Now when you try to restore the data from the tape, you get the following error message: restore: 0511-160 Cannot read backup media. This problem occurs only before AIX 3.2.4. WORKAROUND 1. First, change the block size to 0: chdev -l rmt0 -a block_size=0 2. Then run one of the following dd commands: If this is a "backup by name" backup, run: dd if=/dev/rmt0 bs=81920 | restore -xvqf- If this is a "backup by inode" backup, run: dd if=/dev/rmt0 bs=81920 | restore -Bivqf- Restoring Backup Tape Written at 0 Blocksize 1 01/11/96, 2561 FIX This problem is fixed by APAR IX31994, in the 3240 PMP (U493240). To apply the fix, select the bos.obj.arch sub- system of the PMP.
