  ABOUT THIS DOCUMENT
 
       This document includes these procedures:
 
       o   How to Increase the Number of BSD PTYs > 64

  HOW TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF BSD PTYS > 64
 
       In the following steps, 128 is used as an example number of
       BSD PTYs.
 
       1.  Run the following command:
 
  odmget -q"uniquetype=pty/pty/pty and attribute=num" PdAt > /tmp/pty.out
 
 
       2.  Edit /tmp/pty.out ("vi /tmp/pty.out") and change the
           values field so that it reads
 
              values="0-128,1"
 
       3.  Run the following command:
 
  odmchange -o PdAt -q"uniquetype=pty/pty/pty and attribute=num" /tmp/pty.out
 
 
       4.  Run "smit pty" and change the number of ptys to 128.

  HOW TO CHANGE THE NUMBER OF BSD PTYS TO 64
 
       1.  Reboot with the key in Service position.*
 
       2.  Select Service Aid.
 
       3.  Select Service Hints.
 
       4.  At the colon prompt (":") enter "!sh".
 
       5.  Run "smit pty" and change the number of PTYs to 64.
 
       6.  Reboot with the key in Normal position.
 
       * On systems at 3.2.4 and above, you must boot from bosboot
       diskettes to access the service menus.  For information on
       bosboot diskettes, refer to InfoExplorer or order fax #2462
       from 1-800-IBM-4FAX (415-855-4FAX outside the U.S., from a
