ENABLE ATTACHMENT TRACING: You can enable attachment tracing in one of two ways: from the SNA profiles or from the command line. Enabling tracing from the profiles is the preferred method, especially if the error occurs immediately after starting the attachment. Tracing will be started every time the link station is started and all old traces will be overwritten. This DOES include any restart generated by the 'RESTART on deactivation' parameter in the attachment profile. After collecting traces, you can modify the SNA profiles to turn attachment tracing back off. To enable attachment tracing from the SNA Profiles: # smit sna Select Configure SNA profiles Select Advanced SNA Configuration Select Physical Units Select type of Data link you are using Select Data Link Control Select Logical Link Select Change a Profile Enter profile name of link to be traced Change 'Trace Link' field to "YES" If token ring, leave as short, otherwise, choose long Hit the enter key Then, stop and start SNA for these changes to the profiles to take effect. To start attachment tracing from the command line: Replace 'attachmentname' with the name of your attachment: # traceson -lt attachment -o attachmentname
