ABOUT THIS DOCUMENT This document describes the correct procedure to follow BEFORE swapping the planar board on a machine that is running NetLS. It also describes what to do if you HAVE ALREADY swapped the board. If you have swapped the board without following the proce- dure, you may find that the netls daemon, dce, hacmp, and rlm will not run. If you have not yet swapped the planar board, please contact the Boulder Key Distribution Center at 1-800-446-8989 before following the procedure below. BEFORE SWAPPING THE PLANAR BOARD BEFORE swapping out planar boards on machines that have NetLS running, perform the following steps: 1. Shutdown the NetLS daemons (in this order): stopsrc -s netlsd stopsrc -s glbd stopsrc -s llbd 2. Comment out the lines in /etc/rc.ncs for starting up the ncs daemons: #Uncomment the following line to start the Local Location Broker #startsrc -s llbd #Uncomment the following line to start the Global Location Broker #startsrc -s glbd RECOVERY PROCEDURE IF THE PLANAR IS ALREADY SWAPPED If the planar has already been swapped on a machine running NetLS without the above procedure, do the following to recover: 1. If the following daemons are running (you can check with "lssrc -a"), shut them down in this order: NetLS -- Planar Board Swapping Procedure 1 11/01/95 stopsrc -s netlsd stopsrc -s glbd stopsrc -s llbd 2. Remove these files (if they exist): /tmp/llbdbase.dat /usr/lib/netls/conf/cur_db /usr/lib/netls/conf/lic_db /usr/lib/netls/conf/lic_db.bak /usr/lib/netls/conf/log_file /etc/ncs/glb.e /etc/ncs/glb.p /etc/ncs/glb_log /etc/ncs/glb_obj.txt | /etc/ncs/glb_site.txt 3. Rerun /usr/lib/netls/conf/netls_config. NOTE: If you respond NO to the questions about starting the "llbd" and "netlsd" automatically when the machine boots, you will need to start the daemons manually after a reboot to use NetLS controlled products. You do not need to manually start the daemons now; this will be done automatically in the next step. Any time you need to start the daemons manually, use the following commands (in this order!): startsrc -s llbd startsrc -s glbd startsrc -s netlsd 4. Run the "/usr/lib/netls/conf/netls_first_time" script that the netls_config script generated. 5. Run "lssrc -a | pg" to check that the daemons are all running. 6. You can use the following commands to check the NetLS setup: /usr/lib/netls/bin/ls_stat -tia /usr/lib/netls/bin/ls_tv NetLS -- Planar Board Swapping Procedure 2 11/01/95 READER'S COMMENTS Please fax this form to (512) 823-4009, attention "AIXServ Informa- tion".
