ABOUT THIS DOCUMENT This document explains how to migrate an instance and a database from version 1 of DB2/6000 to version 2 and is applicable to AIX versions 3.2.5 and 4.1. 1. Login as SYSADM for the Version 1 instance and perform the following: a. Ensure all databases to be migrated are cataloged. b. Stop all applications and do a db2 terminate and db2stop. 2. Login as root and execute the following command: # /usr/lpp/db2_02_01/instance/db2imigr This command will migrate the version 1 instance to version 2. Once an instance has been migrated to version 2 it is unusable under version 1. 3. Migrate the database from version 1 to version 2. a. Login as the instance owner who was migrated in step 2. b. Ensure that the database manager is started by typing db2start. To migrate your database type the following command: $ db2 migrate database user using where: DATABASE Specifies the alias of the database to be migrated to the currently installed version of the database manager.
