ABOUT THIS DOCUMENT The following discusses the software and procedures needed to setup both man pages and InfoExplorer in AIX version 4.x systems. This document applies to the InfoExplorer Hypertext CDROM only. For additional information on installing the TECHLIB CDROM order 4fax document 5103, "Setting up Man Pages & InfoExplorer Using TECHLIB CDROM" and for additional infor- mation on installing man pages onto the hard drive for AIX 4.1 order 4Fax 4619, "How to Install man pages using the installation media" by calling: o (within the U.S.) 1-800-IBM-4FAX from a touchtone phone. o (Outside the U.S.) (415) 855-4FAX from your fax machine phone. o (Internal to IBM) T/L 465-4FAX. SETTING UP MAN PAGES AND INFOEXPLORER Please refer to Chapter 14 of the 4.1 System Management Guide SC23-2525-01. The new Hypertext Information Base Library (HIBL) for 4.1 is a licensed product. The Hypertext Information Base Library is ordered using: Product number: 5696-919 Feature code: 4001 Media Type: 3410 CD ROM Prerequisites: 1. You must have root user authority or be a member of the system group to create and mount the CD-ROM file system and run the /infocd/linkinfocd script. Using InfoExplorer Hypertext CDROM 1 08/09/96, 4FAX 5734 2. The LANG variable in your environment must be set to the correct value, en_US for US English. To display the variable, enter: echo $LANG Use the command "smit chlang" to change the LANG variable. USING CDROM: The first time you access InfoExplorer databases from your CD-ROM, you must: 1. Create a CD-ROM file system with /infocd as the mount point. Use the smit crcdrfs fast path to create the CD-ROM file system. 2. Mount the CD-ROM file system using the smit fastpath, smit mountfs. 3. Run the linkinfocd script by entering /infocd/linkinfocd The linkinfocd script links the database subdirectories from the /infocd CD-ROM file system to the /usr/lpp/info/lib/en_US/aix41 directory. Each database sub- directory is linked individually, just as each database can be installed separately. This allows you to have databases installed on your fixed disk drive, databases linked from a mounted CD-ROM, or a combination of both. The script also links the ispaths file from the /infocd CD-ROM file to the /usr/lpp/info/data directory. The linkinfocd script does the following: o Checks to see if InfoExplorer (/usr/lpp/info) is installed on the system. If /usr/lpp/info does not exist, the script exits. o Checks to see if the /usr/lpp/info/lib/en_US/aix41 directory exists and creates it if it is not found. o Checks to see if the database subdirectories exist. If the database subdirectory name is found in /usr/lpp/info/lib/en_US/aix41 as: a link from the CD-ROM. Then the script prints a __ message that the database is already linked from the CD-ROM. a link from elsewhere. Then the script forces __ the link from the CD-ROM over the existing link. a directory. Then the script prints a message __ that you must deinstall that database if you want to link it from the mount CD-ROM. o If the database subdirectory is not found in /usr/lpp/info/lib/en_US/aix41, the script links that database subdirectory from /infocd/usr/lpp/info/lib/en_US/aix41 to /usr/lpp/info/lib/en_US/aix41. Using InfoExplorer Hypertext CDROM 2 08/09/96, 4FAX 5734 It then checks to see if the /usr/lpp/info/data/ispaths file exists. If the ispaths file name is found as: a link from the CD-ROM. Then the script prints a __ message that the ispaths file is already linked from the CD-ROM. a link from elsewhere. Then the script copies the __ linked ispaths file to ispaths.linked and links the ispaths file from the CD-ROM into /usr/lpp/info/data. a file. Then the script copies the existing ispaths __ to ispaths.orig and links the ispaths file from the CD-ROM into /usr/lpp/info/data.
