This document assumes that you are working with AIX Support under one of the service options. REPRODUCING THE PROBLEM Before collecting the information below, reproduce the reported problem with the Cluster Manager running in verbose (debug) mode. BASIC HACMP INFORMATION The information in this section is NEEDED FOR ALL HACMP PROBLEMS and should be obtained from BOTH CLUSTER NODES. o Output from "/usr/sbin/cluster/clgetenv" o Output from "/usr/sbin/cluster/cllsif" o Contents of "/tmp/hacmp.out" (for last relevant cluster events) HACMP R120 -- Information Needed for Problem Resolution 1 01/31/96 o Contents of "/usr/adm/cluster.log" (for last relevant cluster events) o Output from "errpt -a" (for relevant time period) CHECKING STATUS OF DISK/VOLUME GROUP CONFIGURATION The information in this section is REQUIRED WHEN A PROBLEM WITH THE SHARED VOLUME GROUP, SHARED LOGICAL VOLUME, OR SHARED FILE SYSTEM IS SUSPECTED (i.e., the log files indi- cate a problem accessing one of these). Submit this infor- mation only if specifically requested or if you suspect a problem in this area. Be sure to get the information from BOTH cluster nodes. o Output from "lsdev -Cc disk" o Output from "lspv" o Output from "lsvg sharedvg", where sharedvg is the name of the shared volume group o Output from "lslv -l lvXX", where lvXX is the name of the shared logical volume o Output from "lsfs" If you are using NFS with the shared file system, also include output from: o "ls -l /dev/lvXX", where lvXX is the name of the shared logical volume o "ls -l /dev/sharedvg", where sharedvg is the name of the shared volume group CHECKING STATUS OF NETWORK AND ADAPTERS Output from the commands below is REQUIRED FOR TOPCHNG.RC FAILURES, TOPCHNG.RC HANGS, AND UNSTABLE CLUSTERS, WHEN COM- MUNICATION PROBLEMS ARE SUSPECTED. Submit this information only if requested or if you suspect a communication problem. Be sure to include the following information: (You can determine the block size by typing lsattr -E -l rmt# | grep block_size The block size is listed after "block_size".) VERY IMPORTANT: If the person sending in this testcase is not the person who reported the problem, be sure to include the name of the person who reported it. If the proper information is not on the package, then it takes valuable time to process and delays solving your problem. The following is an example of | how to create a compressed tar archive. | o Place the testcase files into a separate directory using | commands similar to those in the following example. In | this example, we'll use a directory named /tmp/testcase. | cd /tmp | mkdir testcase | cp file1 file2 file3 testcase | o Execute one of the following commands to create the com- | pressed tar archive. Using the gzip command (if avail- | able), will generally produce a significantly smaller | file. | With the gzip command: | tar -cf- testcase | gzip -9 >9x999.999.999.tar.gz | Without the gzip command: | tar -cf- testcase | compress >9x999.999.999.tar.Z | Testcases should be archived into a compressed tar archive | using relative path names. The following example will | uuencode and send the compressed tar archive created in the | previous section. This method only works for IBM internal customers. It is not automated, which could cause delays in testcase proc- essing. FTP IS THE PREFERRED METHOD FOR SENDING TESTCASES. The testcase should be combined into a single compressed tar archive and uploaded in BINARY format.
