(We'll both be involved in any case.) You can contact me in the following ways: roush@austin ROUSHC@AUSVMR 3-8398 2B-026, bldg. 042 through HyperWin feedback If there is a lot of text to be added, it is helpful for me to have a soft copy. Please also read the following notes. - Please note in the document (perhaps with a character in the left column) where the changes are. - Please tell me: - who the author of the change is - what AIX versions the information applies to - when someone would want to use this fax - what the procedure in the fax will do - Don't spend time on the following; they are automatic. - don't worry about making the format (paragraphs, margins, page breaks, etc.) look nice - don't bother with the date at the top of the page, the disclaimer, or the comment form - It is helpful for paragraphs, tables, etc. not to be more than 73 characters wide (not counting margins). ;end(1) ************************************* ;start(2) Tips for Creating Faxes Include in the fax: - the versions to which the fax applies - when someone would want to use the fax - what the procedure in the fax will do Also consider including: - references to InfoExplorer, manuals, other faxes which are available from 4FAX. (See /afs/austin/depts/aixserv/faxes/fax.data/4faxlist for list of 4FAX faxes.) - answers to common questions Concentrate especially on the technical content and on including all important information. Try to look at the subject from the point of view of someone who is new to the subject. Since you probably have restricted time to work on faxes, concentrate on the above items. When Cynthia reviews and edits, she will work on: organization, clarity, format, grammar, spelling, titles, consistency in terms, etc. Also, the following are automatic, so you don't need to spend time on them: margins and page breaks disclaimer and comment form last change date at the top of the page ;end(2) ************************************* ;start(3) What happens to the fax after I give it to Cynthia or the fax coordinator for my group? 1. Cynthia edits the file and formats it in BookMaster. 2. She then takes it to the IRT component group fax coordinator, who will get the necessary technical approvals. (See the Fax Approval Process under IRT Processes in HyperWin.) 3. After the fax is returned, Cynthia gets management approval if the fax is new. 4. The fax is then put in the following places: cia:/afs/austin/depts/aixserv/faxes aasc-042:/afs/austin/depts/aixserv/faxes afs:/afs/austin/depts/aixserv/faxes AIXSERV tools disk on VM 1-800-IBM-4FAX AusText, Mosaic, etc. ;end(3) ********************************** ;start(4) How can I reference an older version of a fax? Copies of old versions of faxes are kept in cia:/afs/austin/depts/aixserv/faxes/old aasc-042:/afs/austin/depts/aixserv/faxes/old The date that the version was removed from /afs/austin/depts/aixserv/faxes is appended to the file name. These copies are kept for reference for six months. ;end(4) ************************************ ;start(About 4FAX) ;title() The IBM Fax Information Service ;box()ncols=78 trow=2 lcol=1 About the IBM Fax Information Service (1-800-IBM-4FAX) (Outside the U.S., 415-855-4FAX from a fax machine phone) What is it?
