BASE OPERATING SYSTEM IX37146 PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If the TZ environment variable is set to an extended military value, such as "CET-CEsT,M3.4.0,M9.4.0", "ls -l" will show file dates of "01.01.1993." CIRCUMVENTION: None available. Order the fix for IX37146. GENERAL User configurable files PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The following user configurable files may be overwritten during installation of the 3.2.4 Service Update. /etc/sendmail.cf /usr/lib/X11/xdm/* /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/* /usr/lib/X11/system.mwmrc /usr/lib/X11/system.twmrc /usr/lpp/X11/defaults/* CIRCUMVENTION: Back up copies of those files which you have modified, and merge your changes after installation. Known Problems After 3.2.4 Service Update 1 11/29/94 GRAPHICS X11R4 PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If you have a .xinitrc file in your $HOME directory, the first line must be shell magic, or xinit will fail. This problem only occurs on AIXWindows 1.2.0 (X11 Release 4). CIRCUMVENTION: Add the following line at the top of your $HOME/.xinitrc file. #!/bin/ksh TTY/PRINTER IX36881 PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DTR pacing using 8-wire cables not automatically enabled at system reboot. CIRCUMVENTION: 10-pin RJ-45 cabling is recommended for attaching terminal and printer devices to 128-port remote asynchronous nodes (RANs). The 128-port RANs also support an optional feature, called altpin, which allows use of an 8-pin RJ-45 cable. This swaps the logical functions of data set ready (DSR) with data carrier detect (DCD). When altpin is enabled, DCD becomes available on pin 1 of an 8-pin RJ-45 connector. For printers that require data ter- minal ready (DTR) pacing and that require altpin, the func- tion is not yet automated by the system and currently must be added or changed by the system administrator at each reboot. The shell script in /usr/lbin/tty/adddtr.sh can be used to automate this procedure. Run chmod 744 /usr/lbin/tty/adddtr.sh Add the following line to your inittab file: dtr:2:once:/usr/lbin/tty/adddtr.sh > /dev/null 2>&1 Create a file /etc/lp.altpin.dtr that contains the list of 128-port line printers that use altpin and require DTR. For example: lp0 lp1 IX36835 PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Ports 10-15 on 64-port concentrators may not work after a system reboot. CIRCUMVENTION: Cycling power on the concentrator will resolve the problem until the next reboot. Known Problems After 3.2.4 Service Update 2 11/29/94 IX35705 PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Intermittent system crash when using 64-port adapter. CIRCUMVENTION: None available. Order the fix for IX35705.
